No I didn't use sunblock. I was hungover and thought a quick nap on the beach would do me good. Three hours later...
And it's not the burn that hurts - I can handle that -it's this weird ankle swelling..
OK to update: I called my regular doc, but he had no office hours, but I asked him to return my call. I went to the emergency room at 11:35 am. I sat. I waited. I waited. I sat. They called me at 3pm - at the exact same moment they called me in, my doctor calls me on my cel. I answer phone. ER nurse gets pissed that I am now standing there tal;king on the cel phone and wasting her precious time for 30 seconds not sitting down at the table. She starts adamantly saying "No cel phone!" As my doctor is talking to me about what I should be doing with the swollen feet thing...
The ER nurse gets so adamant yelling "NO CEL PHONE!" That i hastily and probably a bit rudely hang up on my doc.
At which point she hands me some papers and says "Fill these out and we'll call you in a half an hour."
I was like "WHAT? I had my doctor on the phone and I could of went to his office this very second, but no! Now I have to fill out forms and wait thirty more minutes? Maybe you efficiency experts could have had me fill these out for the last three hours I was waiting in your freaking waiting room. Screw this."
I walked out, with my swollen red hobbit like feet.
Sure I wouldn've like someone in the ER to have seen them, but my doc had gotten far enough into his conversation to let me know that the symptom was common with some bad sunburns and I should elevate them, pop advil at double dosage, stay home from work for a day and call him in a day or two if nothing changes - all of which I was doing anyway.
So..man..why does healthcare suck so much...
