My guess is that anyone who says they don't care didn't grow up listening to bands like Minor Threat and take their lyrics to heart.
They stood in direct opposition to everything Nike stands for. It's not simply paying homage. It's Nike's poor attempt to appropriate underground and fringe culture to add further to their bullshit "individuality" branding.

doesnt matter how you call it, appropriation or rip, the visuals are the same.
if this was a solid concept that was to be appropriated, they missed the mark of using 1984 album cover, considering that most of the target market, and will not remember that or aware of it.
i say its a copy or rip cause it has same visual tone to it.

i think we may not care as much. but at the same time, the meaing of the cover and poster is a contridictory it self.
if i did that, ppl will just call me a bitch and lose creditibility on NT.

I listened to them and I still take the lyrics to heart.
I still stand by my earlier statement as well. An individual designer can't be respnsible for his employer's actions and intent

Read "Dance of Days." Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat spent most of his energy figuring out ways to stay outside corporate mainstream America...which in many ways meant disbanding and regrouping numerous times with different bands to avoid getting too big. This is just a spit in the face.

unless designer came up with that concept
WHO THE FUCK IS PLAYING THAT ARCORDION !!
FUCKEN ANNYOING !!!

i think some people need to get a grip and learn to choose their battles.
"It's Nike's poor attempt to appropriate underground and fringe culture to add further to their bullshit "individuality" branding."
yes, welcome to corporate america.
is it lame? yes.
can you stop it from happening again and again and again? no.

I'd like to hear what Ian has to say about all this - I'd love him to call Nike out in public about this.
