Caught itl last Monday...I highly recommend it!
Don't worry that they didn't use the Year One script...enough of the source material is in there to please even the most die-hard fan...and bunch of other great references.
On a side note...yes, katie Holmes is horrible..but she isn't in it too much.

i'm really sorry but i can't be bothered by it, i never liked batman, the comics, the tv-shows or the films. i just can't take him serious. he dresses up as a bat for christ sake, he has no special powers and has robin as a sidekick. i dunno, that just screams fruitloop to me.
i know i shouldn't be threadjacking this, but we have to keep these threads in check and in balance.

rabbats I share you view somewhat. I like batman just had enough already... its been done to death. I'm all for the creation and explotation of a new vilgalanti/goth superhero tho, (not another crow either and no blade).
Maybe if there is an animal who gets a potion on it and gets powers and the animal dresses up like a human and fights crime.

I don't think the problem is with the type of super hero he is. I think it has to do with the fact that hollywood has ruined the character for us in the past 3 movies.
This one will be different. Much more realistic.

I thought it was going to be like the Frank Miller comic. That would be a cool film beating up Superman.
- groundst0
The trailer does show batman being hit with sticks in the ribs. We could equate that to the part where the dog is ripping Elijah Woods balls off... Well, no we can't.
- bk_shankz0
No I mean The Dark Knight another Frank Miller comic where Batman beats the crap out of Superman.

Christian Bale as Batman is something I'm looking forward to. Plus, the reason why Batman is so appealing is the very fact that he's more like us compared to other superheroes, such as Spiderman or Superman. Batman is basically just a regular guy.
Thank goodness Katie Holmes isn't in it much, because her acting sucks.

i'm not a huge batman fan either.
but, if you have quicktime 7, you gotta love the HD trailer.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/h…totally redefines how we're gonna view movie trailers online.

my one concern is that its kinda like a "crouching batman flying ____". my batman dont kung fu shit, period.
adding the eastern art of whatever-the-fuck was just for the kiddies.
should I be concerned?
- Jaline0
Maybe he does use that stuff for training? How else does he become so strong and very healthy mentally?
- cosmo0
if it is really good, credit should go to the man himself 'chris nolan' haven't watched a bad movie he has directed so far.

i couldn't believe they were doing another batman movie when i heard about it. It does look good but we're just gonna end up with loads of the same films done by directors doing it in there way. Why can't people just come up with something completely new for a change.
I loved the first tim burton batman. I'm not sure how much it pleased die hard fans though?
- bgheen0
Those are training scenes. According the comics, Batman knows 122 forms of fighting, all the known martial arts and few secret forms.
There is no Dark Knight Returns influence beyond the batmobile..but what did you expect? This is Year One without being called it...and with a few traditional villians thrown it. It's all done very well though. Rest assured, fans boys like myself will be pleased.
- bgheen0
And no..fans were not pleased with Burton's films (aside from the brilliant performances of Keaton [as Wayne], The Joker and Catwoman.
They felt too much like Tim Burton films..and not batman films.
When I the penguins walked on the screen with rockets...it was over.

i have to vent.
so the new big hit / trend seems to be prequals. since sequals kind of ruined everthing already, sucked every last cent out of it *) they have to be absolutely sure to destroy it even more by doing prequals. how fucking creative.
hollywood bores me. bomb hollywood. start from scratch somewhere else.
*) and let's not forget the directors cut as a hype.
allright back to batman. it's not that the film industry destroyed it for me. i never liked batman to start with. imo it's just a rich dude, with no fantasy and no special powers, who dresses up as a bat that's all he his to me. the only good thing about batman are the bad guys, a lot more fun and creative than batman himself will ever be. boo batman! boo!
imho ofcourse.
allright next rant will prolly be over jessica simpson doing daisy duke in the dukes of hazard movie. i'm getting more annoyed about it by the minute.

rabattski's opinions are like assholes.

batman is better than spiderman,
hands down
in fact batman has and always will be the best of these comic to movie ordeals
- Jaline0
Wow, I agree with v3 about something.
I also love the darkness of Batman, and the fact that Gotham City is one of the few things that can creep me out in classic media.
I've seen some good sequels, such as Spiderman, but for the most part they suck.
The trend now is making old television shows into movies. There's already The Dukes of Hazzard, The Honeymooners, The Pink Panther, Herbie: Fully Loaded, The Bad News Bears, and The Longest Yard. Plus, I heard they're thinking of remaking more, such as I Dream of Jeanie.
The only one I would consider seeing is Bewitched.
Comic book movies are still in too.
- rabattski0
i dunno version3, i just can't see beyond batman, if i see batman, i think robin, i think huge buttons with text and political correct cursing. so no matter what, i'll be jaded.
anyways, spiderman ain't a lot better, but at least he has superpowers and got his powers in a special way. and i dig the marvel universe. but still.
how about spawn? did that movie suck in your opinion?
- cosmo0
all i have to say is "WOW"!!!!!!!!!!
