Man gets 5 years in prison for the decapitation of his friend while driving drunk.

agree

sounds about right to me, lucky he didn't do it in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi or Texas. It would have been more. I would put the house on it!

Jesus, that must have taken some skill. I can barely change a tape.

I was going to say that he should get more than 5 years because his crime was absolutely preventable and there's no excuse for driving drunk.
Then I read that the victims family requested that the driver doesn't get a long punishment because the two were friends from childhood. So maybe the death of his friend would be punishment enough.
But there really is no excuse for him.

damn that is harsh....but yeah you should look out for your friends and not let them get shit drunk and have shit llike this happen. ggrrrr I hate drunk drivers.
- JazX0

good response Jaline..
I feel that the thought of taking his friends life is a punishment far greater than confinement could ever be.
But that does not excuse driving drunk.

should be a homicide charge, imo. not manslaughter. the u.s. needs to get tough on that crap.

"Police said Hutcherson was unaware of the decapitation and drove more than 10 miles to his parents' home, went inside and fell asleep with the headless body still in his truck."

" Brohm's family asked for leniency for Hutcherson, who was a childhood friend of the victim."
Horrible accident, but if the family of the victim is asking for that, then 5 years seems okay I guess.
It wasn't exactly murder, you know?
- Mimio0
You're saying he should get leaniency because he knew the person he killed?
Think about that.
- irrelevant0
well it was a murder, but it was not premeditated. It was an accident, like those stories of kids playing with guns and accidently goes off and kills another kid.
- JazX0
right Mimio, that's BS

(May 27 05, 07:09)I'm thinking about that, and it disturbs me greatly.

If O.J. can get off ofr murder, then this guy should deserve some half-way house since the family of the killed agreed to lesser terms

again:
"Police said Hutcherson was unaware of the decapitation and drove more than 10 miles to his parents' home, went inside and fell asleep with the headless body still in his truck."
you call this accident? something about this isn't right. Jerry Orbach would be all over this if he were still alive.
- mogwai0
it was charged as homicide.
