Having worked as an artists/illustrator (graff background) for the past 20 odd years, traditional and digital in more recent years.
dont know if its just me but has anyonelse noticed how many people are SUDDENLY artists/designers/illustrators?
whats that about? and is it only me who it bugs?

not aimed at ppl in here, just in everyday life

- tactikal20
Doesn't annoy me... this world needs more people doing creative things.
- rabattski0
yeah, why is it bugging you?
- de4k0
here they are.
go knock around a job centre if it pains you that much.its not SUDDENLY anyway.
and the cause is home computers.

i think it's a good thing. that's what the whole democratisation of creativity was all about. y'know, death of the auteur and all that. crikey, back in the day you'd have been a slave to some medici or, more probably, an illiterate laborer, so count your blessings!

it bothers me.
content quality drops.
i think there's a trend on it. it's cool.

Dont get me wrong i think the world is big enough for us all!
but in my small town i am having a mare as the people with the doe normally work for the local council and unless u lick arse/bullshit with ppl who work in these positions u dont get on in this area, which is sad cus loadsa ppl with original ideas are missing out cos they dont like to brown nose. which makes it not about art/design but about bullshit and who you know, which i think is a sad state of affairs

thnx witt, good to know im not completely alone on this

oh, dear. looks like it's back to slaving for the medicis, after all! that's no fun, crayon, but i'd say your beef is with bureaucracy more than with other creatives. rock your style and be genuine in your work and you won't have to pander to anyone.

i seen some art by five year olds better than some "artists" but then it's all under opinion right? Why should it be an exclusive thing? With expensive design software piracy rife on the public domain and thousands of design students and countless numbers of lifestyle enhancing programmes and books, why shouldn't we all seek the path to greater things?

yeh think ur right, just wanted a bit of creative feedback not war!huh what is it good for?
- rabattski0
1. everyone's an artist.
2. most artists suck.
3. quality survives quantity.
conclusion: don't worry.
- honest0
absolutely nowt

what rabattski said.

i'm not saying this as political or understated social comment.
it has nothing to do with people. We are equal by law and that is good enough for me.
i just think that in the present, pop culture is invading to much of the field of arts. But maybe that just how go it gets. But it's all so fucking mercantile and not so philosophical as i would like. nothing more.

to be honest i have no idea what your talking about
people are wither talented or thy're not
who are you or we to say who is an artist and whos not
art is a bullshit term, its subjective
concentrate on your own work
- rabattski0
i think you overestimate or glorify the past a wee lill bit too much there witt. this discussion is as old as there is art only in different forms and shapes.
- ribit0
and are we talking fine art or design? or both?
- rabattski0
the art of porn if i'm not mistaken.
