[I love that you don't have to right click a file and press properties to edit a file Use the bottom panel to edit details.Keep in mind this build does not Show how Longhorn will look it is simply a pre beta 1 for Developers to learn on.

- dan100200z0
yeah everything is big, fat, out of place, and downright ugly...
Tiger lives on...

if u say so... like i said don't look at the theme... everything is pretty much based on vector from Form[windows] to icons...if u actually knew about the features u would know its ahead of OS X... but u won't see that till may 2006.

hmmm longhorn is scalable way more then mac os x u guys still use images as icons, yeah lh supports that but it also support XAML save svg as xaml and scale to any size.... ur looking at the temp theme this pre beta is for developers u wont see it with the whole look and all the features till like sept.

Not big on the theme either, as long as they include classic mode I will be happy.
I own a powerbook and work on osx all the time on it and at school but I still prefer my pc, and windows so I am looking forward to this release, more so than I am looking forward to tiger.

how many steps do u have to go threw to edit tags for files in mac os x? i just have to click on details on the panel below which i can hide and show...
- toe_knee0

it just looks rubbishy at the moment although i'm sure it will be beautiful by release time..(in 2006- a long wait) Apple could easily release another update to their OS before the realse of Longhorn... i'm not doubting it's ability to perform, just it's ability to look nice at the moment anyway...

there are different views if u want doc to be viewed rather then icons u choose that view and u scale the size its all changeable.
- toe_knee0
isnt the mac toolbar scalable vector thingys too
- mevsthem0
just wait till Sept when Aero and Avalon are really previewed. This is a developer release M$ has changed alot of things and they need to get the info out to developers why would they give them a free copy of a complete product when its not 100% complete yet 2006 May

windows98se was the last good MS operating system.
- mevsthem0
No, it uses images made into a icon file dunno the format in Mac but it supports 16x16 32x32 48x48 and 128x128 which u can scale down but its not SVG based. its more a image scaled down

I have to full agree with mevsthem. Even though when I saw the latest build I thought it was crap, it's really not an actual representation of what the final product will look like. Aero/Avalon will allow MS to change the full look of Longhorn a few months before the launch due their completely open GUI structure. In the end they can easily create 10 different themes. The vector approach mevsthem mentioned is just excellent.
I have to agree that Longhorn will be one the most cutting edge OSs when it's released, even though I wasn't sure before.
I'm just hoping they will completely take out the registry type of preferences and installations. That was the worst approach they took with XP.
