not that silly, in more advanced programs a pivto point can be transformed independant from the object,
in illustrator you can group your object with a bigger object that completely surrounds the original object, the group will then use the center point of the bigger one, i think
- vburo0
so you cannot move it?
what a stupid arse app.
seriously, i want to have it on the left side so if i scale it percentage wise (numeric) it should scale towards the left, not the center..
- vburo0
thx tho.
*drops H-bomb on Adobedia HQ.

you can move it but in a hacky way like i described, just tested it and it works.
just put a big rectangle arround it with a center point where you want the center, give it no fill or stroke and group the two, works here
- vburo0
ok, i will try that, thx mate!
- Hym0
ehmn if it doesn't work for you then its a new feature in CS2, dont have old stuff installed anymore
- canuck0
Okay not that you have that sorted out; onto the matter of the ipod.

press S and click once where you want it
- Beech0
Hey! cool. I didn't know that, thanks monNom

With a few tools (rotate, shear, scale, etc) you can select an axis point in which to manipulate the object. With the tool you want, click once where you want the axis to be located.

In the numeric transform dialogue there's a check-box where you specify control point position, top left, middle left, bottom left, centre etc. (it's the square icon with the nine points, one will be black which is the selected point...).
Once selected all transforms for an object or group will transform round the selected point, if you do it manually on the artboard the point will reset after the transform.

if you want to use scale tools numeric inputs (duoble click on Scale tool usually) then press S, Alt+click where you want the pivot point to be and tha dialog box pops up
same with rotate
you can use Smart Snap to get accurate results
- Hym0
yes but it's not 'permanently' is it and the temporary pivot is not centerpoint picked for default pivoting andthat is always used by plugins that work from a single coordinate to apply effects.
