In the numeric transform dialogue there's a check-box where you specify control point position, top left, middle left, bottom left, centre etc. (it's the square icon with the nine points, one will be black which is the selected point...).
Once selected all transforms for an object or group will transform round the selected point, if you do it manually on the artboard the point will reset after the transform.
