mimio, we don't know, we won't ever know, it could have, it couldn't have. it could also have mean that indesign would even be better. know what i mean? if this and that isn't really constructive.

the best part of all this- besides the corporate rights and wrongs- is that FINALLY Flash will get an Adobe like menu system, and hopefully less cluttered interface as well.

Rabattski,
We do know, look at the course of events. They tried to buy them, Quark refused, so they went back to the drawing boards to turn their PageMaker product into something higher-end and more competitive (InDesign). The offered competitive upgrades to capture Quark users, and Quark in turn incorporated more features. Couldn't be any simpler actually.

puter, Adobe's menu systems aren't cluttered?
I always thought they were both a mess.
For that matter, you are aware you can customize the panel layout to your desire...right?

*sigh* this is so speculating mimio. ok, unless you're a ceo of adobe, we don't know. for all i care adobe wanted to buy xpress for it's knowledge and experience in order to use that for indesign's progress and ditch xpress afterwards. that didn't happen so they build indesign with other knowledge and experience. or they wanted to release indesign anyways and tried buying out their only possible competitor to insure the success of indesign. etc. etc. etc. couldn't be simpler as well. and this is where it stops mimio, this is so not constructive.

rabatskii, you're being waaay dumb
If Adobe bought Quark xpress - why would they care about building a better product? It would be a waste of money, shareholders woulnd't be too happy about. Use your head. Sounds like you've been listening to Adobe's marketing division.
Intelligent people would use logic and reqalise that the only thing that matters to adobe is capturing Quark's extensive market share. Either they do it by buying them out, or do it by producing a better product (which is a much more risky difficult way)

Adobe's menu system's are ten times cleaner than any Macromedia menu- part of that is due to the fact that Macromedia wasn't aloud to steal every Adobe menu idea but still...
Yeah you can customize them in Flash- but the whole working enviroment is always a mess anyway- you need a 23' inch screen at 1600 resolution just to fit all the menus and most importantly have your working project larger than a half of piece of paper.
The best part about Adobe's menus is that the are the same across every app they have- with specific changes due to app functions... Macromedia changes their menu with almost every new release.
I prefer ALL Adobe products- so to me this is a great merger. And as far as not being innovative due to lack of compitetion- well I think that is bull- Adobe is always raising the bar on things- since they started as a company.

Looks like SVG and Flash will become a reality as well.

Regardless of whatever reality you choose to buy into rabattski, The mutual attempts to buy each other out were to gain competitive advantage. To have a monopoly on a market. That's the objection being raised.
- rabattski0
i knew it! you're a ceo @ adobe! :)

I seen this coming from last year...
