well where do you draw the line between useless/worthless invention and bad/terrible invention?
i personally feel that the SUV was completely unnecessary, it does nothing that any other car on the market hadn't done before it. It is extremely wasteful due to the extra amounts of raw materials needed for its creation and low gas mileage. It is dangerous because people aren't trained to drive something that large, can't see half the stuff their about to run over in your typical city, and people behind them can no longer try to 'look three cars ahead' like they teach you in driver's ed.
That to me is a bad invention.

I drive a really small truck actually... I just want to give you folks SHIT... CUZ YOU'RE BABIES.
My step-mummy won't drive anything else as she was in a nasty accident and is scared to death to drive now...
... and my Pop's has one to pull his boat and load up with loads of shit when we travel.
... and both SUV's get over 30 mpg and are V6's.

what about re-designs of existing good inventions?
i have three can openers, one old-school basic metal one, and two high-end fancily designed ones that were given to me.
the old school one is about 10 years old and works perfect, every time.
both fancy can openers suck ass, i can't even get a can of tuna open, after less than two years for both.
