"Most Mac users only do the most basic of tasks. This isn’t their fault; it’s the computer itself. Try doing anything useful with your Mac, like programming a class project or creating a Web site."

    What a wanker!!

Mac users can best be described as a cult of Birkenstock wearing, hippie tree-huggers. They have their "pretty" computers that do "everything they want it to." Let me translate that for everyone: "I only check e-mail, write papers and steal music. I am a slave to aesthetics and I love using overpriced, overrated equipment."

haha .. he's only saying what we all think though ;)

ok, i'll bite. they guys a fuck. simple as that. his problem is that he's an idiot.

i'm a pc person. well, actually i don't care. but, i prefer the lower-cost and more readily available commidity pc hardware. especially amd.

besides, it doesn't matter what hardware you use, linux and unix run equally well on both.

    :)

Last week I had a visit from a friend of mine, she is a PC user, not by choice thought, forced by her company - she is a TV producer by the way. Anyway she stayed the all week by my place and she had the choice to use either my iMac or my girlfriend laptop Toshiba - I had to ask her sometimes if I could use my computer!! :D
Best quotes from her: " I love the touch of this keyboard" "do you wanna sell this computer?"

Well I do know this, at work I am still using a G4 400Mhz and run most of the recent software on 10.3

    Hasta

the most comical part about these arguments to me is that PC users assume because the Mac is easier to use that Mac users don't really know computing. Like your a computing wizard on the XP home addition system you got on sale at Walmart with a free box of 10 floppies.

I will always say the difference to these arguments is this:

Most macheads HAS to use Windows too, or HAVE used it throughout the years- so their choice of system is based on their expirience on both-

Most PC users used a mac back in 3rd grade running System 8 and saw OS X once at CompUSA.

Chose PC back in 96 when Apple couldn't meet demand on their 8500's and the 133mhz pentium wasn't all that much slower than the Motorolla RISC chip in the Apple.

Rationale being that Bill Gates didn't become the richest man in the world for being an idiot, and he doesn't make Apple software. (Windows 95 had just come out)

Been a Mac player-hater ever since, and for the most part agree with the Mac user stereo-types....

That is until i picked up a 17" G4 and threw a GB of ram in it.

It is the iPod of laptops as far as I'm concerned, and the fact that it runs on Unix is all the clout it needs to win over my tech side. If you've ever had to wait in line at a 'Genius Bar' you know Mac support sux beyond belief....so if you hear of a happy mac user it's because they're not afraid to 'do it themselves'. I think they deserve a little more credit that I used to give, esp. not that it's based on a UNIX back end.

But all that is minimal compared to the ease of use for music creation. I know it's a stereotype and yeah...you can do it on the PC, but there just isn't the same head-ache on a Mac.

Trust me, rather than wasting hours setting up drivers and "optimizing WinXP for music", I'm already recording and mixing new new tunes on my LAPTOP!

Don't get me wrong, there are still some things that PC's are good for, I use an IBM Laptop for work, but when I switch from it to the powerbook it's like getting out of a CIVIC and into a Merc.

Which one do you want to use on a daily basis?

Oh, and the last time I had to update my core browser or email client because of a security vulnerability? I'd have to get back to you on that.

Ultimately I say it's about compatibility...get what you can be most compatible with for what you're going to do...if you decide upon a powerbook, I seriously doubt you'd regret it. (unless you're a hard-core gamer and abhor simplicity).

That said, I did have the main-board go out on my G4, and if I didn't have Apple Care I might have a different opinion. (remember their service sux a$$)

For me, Apple prices are the single most deterring factor. If this one goes out, I'm not sure be happy about replacing it when I can get a fully-spec'd PC for a significant amount less.
