dancer,
btw, did you enjoy your stay in ny? did you meet up with any NT peeps?

also, when i was fresh outta college i had the opputunity to do a website for a famous retired baseball player who shall remain nameless, and i was treated like absolute shit while i was working on the project, so i just said 'fuck it, im out. im taking al lthe work i did too, find someone else to do it'. i think he ended up going with a relatives son to do it.
however, i did get two tickets behind homeplate for a sox game from his assistant as a 'thank you', but he had nothing to do with that.

Take the job, then afterwards find the cheapest, fattest, ugliest hooker you can. Send a note with her saying, "This is what you get for $25 a day: YA HOOOR!!!"

Jason you are nearly 23 and fully qualified with a good college portfolio of standard stuff. but coz of your education time you must lack work experience.
yeah they are takin the piss offering that sort of dosh.
But ask yourself. will the work experience enhance your portfolio or future prospects? will you be able to say you have learned something from these 8 days? as well as earned a miserable recompence.
if you can answer "yes" to some of these questions, go for it. better than doing nowt and you never know what it will lead to, your 8 days work will be seen by others, customers i hope and you never know what's round the corner. doing nowt you will meet no one.

Mattyd I don't get me wrong I ain't knockin' it I just feel that people feel they are worth less than they are.
Did the client know you were fresh outta college? If he went to someone else then it would of cost him/her alot more, aim high but not too high

realise your own worth and negotiate the price up first...
Outline it for them. "I estimate the site will take me this many hours, and so for that price I would be making $6/hour. I would like to make x amount per hour for the project and I would be happy to do it."
Do it professionally, and with confidence that you are worth the money that you are asking for.
If that fails, then you still have the option of taking it, that's up to you.
you should be able to get them up if they like your work, they know you already, and so it saves the hassle of finding someone else to do it.

yeah, they knew i was just outta college and i actually quoted them higher and he was like 'no, this is it, take it or leave it' and i was in no fucking position to say no cos it was either that which could pay off a few months worth of college loans or i go out and get a job at the local supermarket and get the cash that way...

tk, never met up with anyone. I did send round an email but no one was up for it except e-pill (of course). I would be out all day as well and did not get to NT till I was pissed and wrote shit.... I think.
Me and a friend had a few interviews out there so we maybe back ;)

holy shit toulouz i thought you were the boss cus you called me by my name.... lol
thanks for the advice, everyone.
- spiralstarez0
as long as you don't offend them you can't lose either way by atleast trying to negotiate the price up.
- usrper0
dancer sorry dude.
- usrper0
thats right spiral.
ok, how does 800 sound?
8 days.
- spiralstarez0
I would do it the other way around. estimated # of hours x the hourly rate you want to make.
If 800 is what you want, then start with 1000. They'll either accept that, or then you still have bargain room and look concilliatory to come to 800.
- usrper0
fuck.. yea, shouldve aimed higher.
"settle at 750 ok?"
- vburo0
"But ask yourself. will the work experience enhance your portfolio or future prospects? will you be able to say you have learned something from these 8 days? as well as earned a miserable recompence. "
toulouz nailed it.
- spiralstarez0
what you settle for is your decision on whether or not it's worth it to do for that price.
And vburo is right, if it's a cool project or something that will help you get more jobs when it's in your portfolio, take it into consideration.
If it's just for the cash, be firm on what you want.

the project is something we've been working on for a long time. its advertising stuff for cosmetics. to be honest i couldnt care for it too much, but, whatever. case closed.
thanks for the props everyone.
