this company i interned at asked me to work on a project, from tomorrow until 15th - next friday.
the pay is 500. 8 days. thats 60 bucks a day.im so delusioned i dont know how to think correctly.i feel lopsided even mentioning about it. but on the other hand i really need money.
what should i do

I say go for it, make the money and earn the experience...., but the purist will say - Starve to death and let your children die while you wait for the perfect 100ph job-
its your call
- brandelec0
don;t do it
but if you really need the cash, then there isn't much of a choice
- usrper0
is it righteous to bargain? say, 200 more?
- brandelec0
very righteous
do it
- usrper0
still, thats only like 80 bucks a day, and i expect at least 10 hr shifts. thats less than 10 bucks and hr.
my initial call was 25 bucks.
thats why he thinks im the foo
arrgg duno wha to do
- fusionpixel0
really... if you need the money that bad you will end up doing it. Now, you can try to make an agreenment that this will be the only job you do for that much, but anything after that will be a 25ph or something both agree on.

i bet a homeless guy can make more money than that...

EXACTLY
thats why i dont fucking know what to do
- usrper0
extra question:
when i bargain with him, should i say that its because i have financial trouble thats why i want more?
- vburo0
ha i once had the exact same request at a design agency i worked many years ago..
it was that same day i resigned cuz they insisted..
it did not really help me financially tho.. :/
- usrper0
v you resigned because they made that offer? thats hilarious
- mattyd0
i am doing decent sized website for $600 and it took me like 3 weeks to do. i think its some of m best work, so that is cool for me. but they pay fucking blewwwwww.
- tkmeister0
just say, respect and value design. you aren't their fucking bitch, are you?
stand up and be a man. also, don't ever lose your integrity, to me that's everything.
- fusionpixel0
well, in the south you can make as little as 7 bucks an hour as a designer in an entry level, but I dont know how much a homeless is making

Matty you sold yourself out the fuckin' wondow.
Ursper are you fresh outta college or a few years down the line? I only ask cause my first six months I would work for anything sometimes nothing just to get the experience.
my 2 pence
- mattyd0
i agree with the integrity factor.
think about it, sly stallone needed cash when he was a struggling actor so he did porn... he hasnt been able to live that one down...
- mattyd0
well im just outta college dancer
- vburo0
why is that hilarious?
they told me the (super rich) client did not want to pay more for this ecommerce site they wanted and this agency's management kept licking the clients heels and i said once he got that site he won't come back and pay for more.. then they told me that's bs.. then we got in a slight argument.. then i told them if i had to do it i'd be gone.. so then i went...
then the other designer did it..
and guess what? the client never returned at all. all the ass licking for nothing..
i still see those guys every now and then and they seem to treat me with more respect now..
long story short:
if you need the money that bad do it.
if you dont want to be abused as a design slave following the management's horrible instincts tell them to f* off.
- usrper0
dancer i grad last year. i have been working like a bitch for this company already since i grad, and get paid almost nothing, to a point which i quit their sorry ass.
so now theyre giving me this.
- vburo0
and what tkmeister said.
call me a snob but my integrity and dignity as a designer who cares for his profession was far and far more important then their slavery cash.
and btw:
that company mostly does unintelligent boring catalogue stuff most of the time so i am glad i did not grow into that DTP hell over there..going freelance brought me a lot of $$$ trouble but as a designer i feel a lot better about myself and do my work with more pleasure now..
