yeah, it's all a bit intense. We should be pleased that it's happening and my wife's folks are accepting me as much as there are (the wedding is going to be 300people plus! I don't think I have even met 300 people in my whole life!) But it is all for them really, I just want it over so we can stop all the lies and just get on with being a proper couple. No more secrets will be nice!

nah, no party this time (we did all that last year when we got married proper!) This is just for her family to be honest. But if it means I am accepted and we can stop living a lie.. Her family haven't known anything about me for 12 years!

soda, i cannot express how impressed I am with you and your commitment to your wife that you are willing to undertake the ordeal of an Indian wedding.
Being a Muslim from the sub-continent I know the societal pressures that community places. Especially the importance of marriage as the fundamental aspect of social cohesion. That you have endured this for the past 10 years gives credit to you my friend. That you are going into this with your eyes open is even more impressive.
Being one of them, I don't think I could endure, a Muslim/Indian wedding. Much to my mothers dissappointment I don't think I will . But I have been to several in my time (not least my brothers upcoming wedding in the summer), and can completely empathise with your nerves. Bing presented to hundreds of people - few of whom approve of you, or fully accept you into their fold. The cultures are so very different. Being seperated into a room full of stern looking Indian men - a lot of them intensely conservative . Sorry, i'm not trying to scare you, but i'm trying to imagine what it will be like being thrown into the lions den without your wife around to hold your hand.
That is a big step, and boy, I wish you the best of luck. And brother, if you need any advice, help, someone to talk to - some guy (though i'm sure your better half has filled you in), then please do not hesistate to shoot me an email or a phone call (you got me number?). I'd be more than happy to help out any way i can.
