Personally, I like really simple sites that have an easy navigation system.
However, one-page portfolios don't really appeal to me unless the work contained is so captivating that I end up looking through everything.
So, in short, I don't really prefer one-page portfolios.

if your portfolio gets you work, it is good.
1-500 pages
however, it may not get you the adoration of this community

so the one page 'folio post generated a lot of really nice sites, and it definitely shows a trend towards a 1 page portfolio amongst designers.
but are they actually better?
I've got mixed feelings... they're dead simple to navigate, and do a great job of showcasing work... but do they work?I've noticed I gloss over 90% of the work in them, don't read the text, and generally click out of them within a few minutes, if that.
I'd say I spend a bit more time on a website with a portfolio on multiple pages, and likely look more closely at the work. though I may not see that piece that caught my eye on the 1 page.
I guess I'm just looking for other's opinions on this. Good trend, or bad. and why.
