No no no,
the solution is simple.
Go to Bhutan, they've banned smoking altogether, including the sale of tobacco,
Admittedly it costs you £105 per day for a visitors visa, but hey at least ye'll have stopped smoking, no?

Don't be daft. Smoking IS big and it IS clever. It's also cool. You only live once, go on...have a ciggie.
And remember...
"She lights up when he does".

trousermouse?
nomen est omen?

I quit 6th February cold turkey.
Actually I surprised myself as I was a heavy roll-your-own golden virginia smoker.
The worst has been the hunger, I am starving all the time. I've put on 8 lbs which I suppose is not too bad. Now spring has come I'm increasing activities to get my weight back to normal, but I think this is gonna be harder than quitting smoking. Perhaps I will remain 8 lb heavier period.

from just the other day:
http://www.newstoday.com/pv-an/v…some good stuff in there.
friday's the day for me. i'm not particularly looking forward to the weekend for quite possibly the first time in my life.

per rabattski and a co-worker's recommendation i picked up that alen carr book.
glad to hear it helped you.

rabattski:
"nomen est omen?"
What does that mean??
- rabattski0
toulouz, you feeling hungry is because of the nicotine. or actually due to a lack of nicotine. it causes the exact same feeling as hunger (said that before, see blaw's link). you need to filter that from the real hunger feeling. trick is, eat regular, morning, lunch and diner. hunger feeling in between = the nicotine monster. so don't snack in between. if you really have to snack light no-fat stuff. you're gonna gain more weight if you continue like this (or compensate it by doing lots of sport).

congrats to all the others that quit! you made one of the best decisions in your life.
mouse: nomen est omen is latin for (roughly) what's in a name / the name is the omen (sign). meant as a joke btw.

rabattski...
Trousermouse by name, not by nature. Erm... honest.
- toulouz0
rabbattski...thanks
yeah i have fruit everywhere. so inbetween i eat apples, pears, tangarines, bananas and even sun flower seeds.
My 8 lb weight increase came in 2 weeks and i'm holding this steady after 2 months. But I cant seem to even lose a pound of it.
I'm not gross, 162 lbs and 5'-8"

i was at a friend's house last weekend when she found out that her mother has lung cancer.
i am determined to quit in the next 2 weeks.
- emecks0
sorry to be a cock gruntt, but if it had made impression enough you'd have stopped there and then.
My mother died after 6 months of lung disease 4 years ago.
I still smoke.

good advice, but the thing is that although I know that smoking is bad for me.. I usually don't give a fuck.
So this kind of makes it hard to want to stop if you don't really care that much.
When I go out... I usually hit the 3 packs and more jackbot.
my sister gave me the Allen Carr book a few weeks ago, but how I haven't read it yet. I would find it rather depressing if a book would make me want to stop smoking. I doubt that's going to work.
- gruntt0
mx - it did make enough of an impression to make me even think seriously about quitting. the whole 2 weeks thing is based on some reading i've done about how most people sucessfully quit.
sorry about your mother. i can relate. my mother died 5 years ago of a heart attack. she was 55 and a smoker... and yet i still smoke.
and mx i would never think of you as a cock. you're a hoooooor.
;)

I wish I wanted to quit. My main motivation right now to quit is my wife, she's been a long time smoker, something like 15 years and she's definitely feeling it, personally not so much, that's why I'm having a hard time wanting to quit... but it would be much easier for her to quit if I was trying to do the same...
Gimme the drugs!!

mine was 54.
anyway here's a positive tale.
A friend of mine in the South of France was complaining to me one night about how he hadn't ven managed to stop smoking for the birth of his daughter and was really starting to beat himself up about it..
This is quoted exactly:
ME: "How difficult was it to start smoking?"
HIM: "It wasn't"
ME: "So why is it going to be difficult to stop?"
Rudi put the cigarette he was smoking out and has never smoked again since. That was 3 years ago.

Just to aid you on your way:

toulouz, if you're steady on yer weight and yer not overweight than everything's dandy. just calculate your bmi (google for it) to see what's yer score.
btw banana's aren't good if you're watching yer weight. too much of whatchacallit.
