i love cooking. i think it can be mastered to the art form. unfortunately, i've been doing much of eating out than cooking lately... but trying out different restaurants is fun!

alright this may be askign much
but if people are interested
in sharing their recipes
post em here or one better...next time you cook, take a picture (you can art direct right!!!) and post the recipe of that dish....
i'll complie all of those and put em up on my site.I'm already starting somethign like this as my friends and i wanted to start somethign where we can share.
who knows if we have enough, i might just design it in a book.
it can be cool!

zaven, your recipe sounds great, but I'm thinkin you should probably call it something better than "pale green chicken". Doesn't sound too appetizing to me. LOL

right on, DragKng... as long as you share one of yours:
Ceviche (it's from south america's pacific cost):
get any kind of fish, not to greasy but with firm meat. cut it in small cubes (1 cm side). chop onion in small pieces, parsley, red pepper and a little of green pepper.
put the fish cubes on a bowl, with the chopped parsley, the onion and the peppers. add the lemon juice untill it covers everything, add a little salt and pepper.
cover the bowl with a wet clean piece of cloth, put it in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
you can eat the ceviche as you wish, personally i give it as a first dish: a little of red iceberg lettuce, a couple of tomato slices, and on top a little of the ceviche.

zedvox, I've been planning to write a book called dippy's Ghetto Cookbook. Anyone can submit a recipe, but every recipe has to contain at least one ghetto ingredient (like ketchup, spam, etc.). I'll bet tons of starving, unskilled bachelors will buy it.
- zedvox0
haha i'll contribute to that.
you sohuld contribute to my idea as well!i have the best ghetto eggs recipe.
will post it later.

OK, fair enough...
Here's my ultra easy, super yummy 10 minute spicy lemon pepper gnocchi
(with very little actual cooking!)
SERVES 2
1 jar/can of pasta sauce (I really like Classico Spicy red pepper for this.. that's the spicy... if you buy a plain sauce you may want to spike it a little)
1 pkg mastro fresh gnocchi
bunch fresh arugula
lemon or lemon juice
olive oil
black pepper
parmesan cheese (reggiano if you can get it)Heat sauce in pan and boil gnocchi as directed (3 minutes)
In the meantime, wash and chop the arugula, and shave yourself some nice parmesan bits.
When it's done stick the gnocchi in a bowl, top w some sauce throw the fresh arugula on top, drizzle some oilve oil and squeeze a lemon slice or lemon juice on top, grind some pepper on it and sprinkle some parmesan... done.this takes me 10 minutes and I always get an OOhh-ahhh out of people.. YUM!

For the ghetto cookbook:
Baked beans, mixed with chilli sauce, on cut up cubes of white sliced bread, add in processed ham slices, melt processed cheeze on top, finish off with a fried egg. Ultimate cheapo hangover food. For the NT food thread:
Napolean's Willies, dessert of the gods...
Melt butter in pan + brown sugar + congac + bananas. Caution, open flame cooking this shit can be hazzardous to your eyebrows. Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm usually trolleyed when I do it...

I love cooking. I don't get very involved anymore though due to time constraints on my life, so most of my food is very clean meals that are targeted for nutritional value over taste. When the holidays roll around, I'll break out the cookbook and have a blast. As far as ghetto food is concerned, come on now:
Spaghetti:
spaghetti noodles + ketchupDeluxe Asian Noodle Soup:
Ramen + egg + hot sauce + slice of American CheeseSweet Sandwich:
2 slices of white bread + a heap of sugar (pinch edges of bread together to prevent granular leakage)Refreshing Fruit Punch:
Any flavor of sweetened Kool Aid; mixed with water (or not for maximum flavor)

i love to cook. will usually cook my meals 3 nights a week. sunday, wednesday and if needed friday.
i'll cook everything at once so i don't have to cook every night. i'll cook for that night, the next day and the day after. love it.
