I necessarily care about a pretty UI. If MS can make Windows run all 8 of my frequently used programs simultaneously twice as fast as OS X can, and keep away viruses and spyware, I would pick a copy up. But I can already do that with OS X. Maybe I have just had bad experience with XP, but none of the 44 Windows machines in our office ever work very well.
And that is just a shame.

i like that longhorn icons will be vector so u can scale them to any size. mac os x still supports images
- dablammit0
don't*
And Mevs, supposedly Tiger will have fully scalable icons. At this point, however, is anything bigger than 128 necessary? I use 32.

linux has had png icons for quite a while.
so, what we're seeing is longhorn is going to be more like gnome?
- mevsthem0
whos talking about png icons?
png is an image? no?well this way u can have any size u want depending on what resolution u are using.
- sparker0
png is a scalable vector image format.
linux has supported dynamic scaling of icons on the desktop for some time.
it is nothing new.
if windows is just now releasing it, then it is more of a mimic of gnome than a original concept.
- mevsthem0
i know linux has supported that for quit some time now didn't know it was a png. i know its nothing new i just said i like that it will allow me to use the resolution i want rather then limiting me.

nothing about windows is an original concept... aside from being prone to mad virus'
- mevsthem0
linux has been a clone of windows for a long time sure then got some ideas but that like saying they didn't rip anything from windows or Mac os from the xerox team os or wuteva it was called.
- sparker0
actually, i'm not sure about what i said...i'm not sure if png is scalable or not...i thought so, but now that i think about it that could be wrong.
i believe the scalable system was svg based.

you don't think mac borrows from windows LOL wow there whole interface was stolen and they still havn't moved away from main menu on to which they should have who needs a menu on top longhorn is making a menu/toolbar saving alot more space. anyway
Killing thread.

linux a clone of windows???? what fanboy site does that come from.
- mevsthem0
thats what i thought but i don't use linux i just know that some distro have scalable icons... to me a png image is a image only for web mostly...
- mevsthem0
it pretty much is just like some distro as clones of mac os with that gay menu on top.
- mevsthem0
MS MAC LINUX dtros they all borrow from each other whats not patented.
- mevsthem0
removing image[s]
- sparker0
hm. someone needs to go back to kernel and ui school.
gnome and kde both, while similar in some aspects are neither 'clones' of windows...a very illeducated assumption.

if it wasn't for mac's os you'd still be typing...
A: run.this.sucks
or something to that matter in msdos.
- mevsthem0
you mean xerox when apple stole it....
