which screenshot are you talking about look at IE its same size if not abit less then what you have now in IE you can get more room hiding the menu/tool barbut its pretty much same size.
if your refering to the explorer its same thing when you hide the blue part that edits/shows file properties. the breadcrub nav is smaller then drop menu the buttons are like on the same level the title is trust me its good + factor in resolutions that should be used when using longhorn and u have even more room. but its pretty much same. also consider alot of components are show/hide enabled.

if your running XP theme then thats your problem you should be running classic on any windows currently out, longhorn has a interface engine its not like XP skin. its way different, anyway read up on it. i gotto go/

Man, MS UI designers are weak. Their giant pillow embossed buttons look like the iTunes interface circa 2001. Ick.

maybe. like i said, it would be great to see a decent windows desktop.
i can't understand why people say linux is rough around the edges?
our production environment exists of this:
one windows 2000 server and one linux server.
the 2000 server not only requires more hardware and system power, but crashes frequently.
the linux box, running on less hardware uses less power has been up for ~100 days now without a problem...is secure and immune to spyware and viri...
i run gentoo on my sony vaio and everything works with minimal effort. typing on it right now, on my wireless lan at home.
and, before someon says..."well, you don't know how to run a windows server..." these were implemented by the software vendor out of the box.
this is the "way" it is supposed to work...and we frequently have to reboot it, make adjustments and hope it doesn't take out a radio station.
like i said, i'll believe it when i see it.
xp is ok. just hope your legacy software works with sp2.
ours doesn't. and, you can't just switch 100K mission critical software to "get with the times."

I love Linux, I love OS X. But I hate Windows. Absolutely worthless.
- mevsthem0
there all tools and they all have good things about them and bad. people just put to much talk on MS and security problems when all the other OS have similar problems.

you will switch on june 2006 dablammit release may 2006

Jesus Mevs do you comletely disregard spelling and grammar when you use the Internet or do you have a learning disability.

i don't hate any os. i don't hate microsoft, either.
i just prefer to use what works. and experience with both windows and linux systems in production environments it's easy for me to see which is better.
but, i do think longhorn's ui is ugly. then again, i don't think a system should be controlled by how cute it's ui is.

:) i don't bother with spelling and grammer on the internet just try to type as fast as i can ... this thread is already to big . Its cause of msn and chat programs i don't bother with grammer.

There are plenty of things wrong with OS X, but it is still my favorite OS. I love some of the features Linux offers but it isn't quite as easy as OS X or Windows. There is nothing that Windows does that I can't do in the other two just as easy if not easier.

i've yet to see a linux or unix box slow to shit because of spyware or viri.
i've also yet to see a linux or unix system become easily corrupted like the windows registery does...
i've yet to see a linux box easily hacked when properlly configured.
give it up...windows security is a joke and the world is starting to see that.
most security experts agree.
linux and unix has a fraction of the stability and security holes that windows does. and that is a proven fact.
and, when a exploit is discovered the time to patch is immediate, unlike windows systems.
it's like comparing a ugo with a porsche.

gag me... thats gruesome
