    YOU FRIGGIN IDIOT!
    tank
    (Mar 7 05, 01:21)
    --------------------------
is this supposed to frighten me?

ive worked on macs for over 10 years pb160's 9600's imacs
now a g4 nb. the only time they EVER fucked up was when i did something i wasn't supposed to i.e tweak a configuration, move something system related, etc.

never have i just been working along and decided to restart and all of a sudden things were fucked, that applies to pcs as well

you know its true from your own experiences just like i do

so without us knowing what he fucked up on his own with his precious little box in lap, none of us will accuratlely solve his dillema

  • ribit0

we dont have to know what he did wrong...there are recovery procedures for anything... some in this thread...

  • rabattski0

well cloned, reality check, not everyone is a nerd like you.

  • rabattski0

oh and besides why not help someone out with that huge knowledge of yours? you know that's a somewhat smarter way to make friends / be the cool kid on the block instead of slagging off someone right from the bat?

i still remember apple users as being supportive to each other. must be the old days then.

  • cloned0

i guess i'm in just a different mood at night

    *wonders why

    but here goes:

i've always trusted the opinions of apple authorized dealers.. thats something i loved about mac when i started. macs could only be bought from people who were authorized dealers, therefore fully informed and knoweldgable, however with soaring profits and production you can buy a mac at best buy now where the pimple faced fuck doesn't know a thing.

that being said seek the help of apple itself via a phone call:

    1-800-275-2273

or their website. i suggest this link for this situation:

    http://docs.info.apple.com/artic…

tanks method is what i have always practiced and yes the key to hold is T during startup with the firewire cable connected to another machine

other than that my only suggestion is to avoid diskwarrior as my experience has proved that it is more of a restore tool than a repair tool restoring back to a safe state most often removing fiels recently created.

if this is an upgrade from 9 and certain system files have been lost/removed he will most likely have to reinstall the the os completely and if the information has not been backed up before this situation, it is very likely that ALL information has been lost

so in conclusion not knowing what happened prior to the mishap, it is very difficult to assess and properly diagnose his machine for the proper repair procedure

i wish his files luck. i would hate to hear they have been lost as i am afraid they might be, but i still believe that users doing things they do not need to or understand how to causes 99% of all mac problems

*renames thread to "let's bitch at each other for a couple days"

  • cloned0

also someone may want to mention that i wrote all that as i believe he has put me on ignore and he will not be able to view the link or phone number

  • rabattski0

with all due respect cloned, the apple helpdesk / service with it's overpriced apple care has become ridiculous bad over the years. i've heard the weirdest stories, and no, those are not urban myths, actual stories from friends and collegues. they are not what they are used to be.

the only thing where i can understand is where you're coming from is that a lot of info / solutions can be found online and/or is basically rtfm.

again if you don't dig it than don't answer it instead of slagging. that is what gets you ignored or flamed. and what i don' t get is that you app. have this self-acclaimed knowledge. why don't you share that? even if it's on a rtfm level. that's what apple users among each other do you know, help eachother.

  • cloned0

the fact that i'm ignored or flamed does not bother me and as far as the apple number goes, if this is a recent purchase {new} he should not be charged for his call depending on what is stated in his warranty

as far as your stories go i will not argue. i will only say it is most likely similar to what i had described about best buy as the employees are there to keep callers off of hold not solve problems

don't forget, this is NT not an apple forum, nice is not a protocal here

keep in mind also that this machine needs physical attention [a mechanic perse]

if i had it in my hand i would plug it in to mine and get started asking questions and so forth

    an anology:

woman: my car is making this funny sound, whats wrong?

man: i'm not sure but if you do this and this and this you can fix it even though you have no training or idea of what's wrong

    does that ever happen? no.

apparently he doesn't even know what he did wrong, so how are we supposed to guide him to a solution?

the machine needs the attention of someone that is educated and informed in mac operating systems who can do what he needs, not the blind attempt of some random user who omnly uses software applications installed on that system taking suggestions from people who aren't sure whats wrong.

that may sound rude, but i believe this is the current situation

  • rabattski0

i was thinking about typing a long reply to try to make you look at it differently but i decided it's a waste of time really. you don't get it. i'd suggest next time you just don't answer any post regarding mac questions. saves time, energy and frustration.

  • cloned0

i never wanted to answer a question i only wanted him to know i'm sick of people who don't know what theyre doing blaming their machines for their mistakes

i hope you understand that now

what you need to realize is that everything that i type does not have to be relevant, a solution, or polite but merely whatever i feel like saying at any given moment

the country i live in gives me that right morning, noon, and night and the crowd here during the day is much more attuned to this attitude

if someone says something rude in any of my threads i do not feel a need to complain, threaten, or throw a fit. I can easily ignore it without having to use the ignore option to keep me fromo flying off the handle

    for the record:

i feel sorry for the machine, not the user

  • rabattski0

dude, "who don't know what theyre doing blaming their machines for their mistakes"

you don't know what he has done or is doing.

you don't know if he is blaming the machine or not.

you don't know nothing about the entire situation.

because, machines aren't perfect because they are MAN MADE!!!

you are as ignorant as you think of people who ask, in your opinion, stupid questions.

  • tank0

uh,i was just acting a scene from napoleon dynamite...
man that wasn't a threat or something...piper ha trouble wit his computer and the only thing you can do is laugh at him..very immature...

  • cloned0

    rabattski-

youre repeating my point back to me so i agree to disagree with you

    tank-

i felt no threat from you actually i agreed with your solution

    -enjoy gents

    -cheers mates

or what the fuck ever is a polite sign off

*cant wait for the day crowd to come back

  • chameleonic0

is it just me, or was cloned's initial response an off the cuff remark that wasn't particluarly vicious, or indeed personal. A case of speaking beofore thinking perhaps, but as a casual observer I was far more shocked and offended by the posters angry ranting swearing at cloned. make me think he was a really hot headded freak, who should chill the fuck out.

  • omtc0

    zap the P-ram

restart... hold down the "shift + apple + P + R" keys and let your machine bing twice then let go.

    hope that helps

  • motokiss0

ya mines a slow starter to so i just dont turn it off haha just my screen .
