Did the onedotzero thing on shrooms last year.

Onedotzero is a whole different ballgame I reckon. I have been every year and I remember being blown away the first few years and less so the last few.
I'm not sure if it's because I have seen a lot of it already (the impact of broadband etc) or if the festival is struggling to define what it's identity is now? Back when it started it was the only thing that gave exposure to motion graphics on that sort of scale, now it feels like a lot of stuff you have seen before or the experimental work hasn't moved on at all?
Saying that the talks are good and the Japanese work always blows everything else away.

As good as it feels to be 'clean' and I haven't had a hang over for while I do have a desperate urge to go and get munted.

I agree with u to a point. But i think they had some really good experimental nights at onedotzero last year. The Architecture pieces, Cityscapes or something it was called, was a real eye-opener for me. Almost video-art some of the pieces, and i like how onedotzero serves as a platform that shows that motion graphics can actually do that, and not just be about flashy music videos.and dude, please, i beg u, lemme buy u a pint... :)

I agree with you on that type of show at onedotzero. The specials where they concentrate on one application or area, like the architecture last year are really good and that's when the show really works.
Its just the rest of the showcases that are feeling a little tired.
I think my big concern is that it hasn't moved on much from the work being included purely because it has been produced digitally. If you applied other film festival criteria to a lot of the clips shown they wouldn't stand up. Rare jems like the Barry says piece really standout because of it's strength in narrative, production and it's digital content.
I think now that digital media is so intwined in our culture maybe onedotzero needs to find more directions to push (like the architecture and fashion specials of the last couple of years?)
All in all it's not a criticism, more that I think the show has become a victim of it's own success.Now, as for that pint....

aye soda. There were a lot of weak pieces there, and i think there's an emphasis on the work being technically accomplished rather than actual substance. I guess for that reason a lot of the work seems outdated by the time the festival starts, because it's been circulating on the interweb for so long and the "techniques" used are no longer new and fresh.

I suppose that's what I am trying to get at Kuz, it's about time the emphasis started shifting more towards the substance and the content of the work rather than only the technical merits.
in any case I reckon we should try and arrange an NT get together in May for the next onedotzero as well as the antenna festival in march?
Am I allowed to drink cyberpints even though I am off the booze?
