I agree with you on that type of show at onedotzero. The specials where they concentrate on one application or area, like the architecture last year are really good and that's when the show really works.
Its just the rest of the showcases that are feeling a little tired.
I think my big concern is that it hasn't moved on much from the work being included purely because it has been produced digitally. If you applied other film festival criteria to a lot of the clips shown they wouldn't stand up. Rare jems like the Barry says piece really standout because of it's strength in narrative, production and it's digital content.
I think now that digital media is so intwined in our culture maybe onedotzero needs to find more directions to push (like the architecture and fashion specials of the last couple of years?)
All in all it's not a criticism, more that I think the show has become a victim of it's own success.Now, as for that pint....
