I lived in boro of Lambeth for almost 20 years, in same rented flat since August 1985.
My cunt of a landlord stupidly pissed me off whilst I was still living there but luckily I never paid a deposit back in '85.
Eventually, I was victim of what I call the cultural cleansing of SW8 and moved out to east London. But not before I put chicken carcasses under the floorboards at my old flat.
That'll teach the cunt!

Tell him you intend to take the roof / floor / a wall / the windows unless he gives it back. I fucking hate landlords and agencies who think it's their right to withold a deposit for any reason other than major damage.

I have a mate who is a landlord and he a bad experience from cunt tennants and because he's foreign they thought they take advantage.
So, he goes round there to return their deposit when they were leaving. What does he find? Cigarette burns on the carpets and kitchen worktop, front wall partly knocked down as a result of a party.
But, he stupidly went there on his own and was confronted with all 3 cunts renting the place plus their boyfriends and one of the girl's parents! All ganged up on him and he reluctantly handed back their deposit.
So, it can work both ways.
Told him in future, I'll come round with him next time and no cunt is getting their deposit back if they've fucked the place up.

Plan #1: Wait to move out and copy the key. Sneak back up to the place late at night and tun on the water for a bath. The get the fuxk outta there cause it's gonna flood baby. That's well worth the 800 in swet revenge.

Check out my 'rent deposit' thread. I am going through the same thing right now. I could just say screw it but the way he went about it bothers me. I've called him about 5 times with no answer. I have some good info I found about Illinois state laws. A lot of it may not apply to you but you may still find some useful info.

I am dreading moving out of our current place, the landlady has been a right bitch and I just know she is going to fuck us over.
We need the cash to cover stamp duty and all that on the house we are buying, I just know she is going to be nasty...

citizens advice must do what they say on the tin.. see what they say. if the contract states anything dodgy id just avoid it.
we rent, and one of our tenants gave me dodgy chques then skipped town. to be honest i think he got a divorce then ran off and topped himself!
