It's strange that it can't hold a person's attention.
Everyone else agree that hocky is by far more physically demanding than all other major US sports?
Not only do you have to be able to skate like a speed skater and a figure skater, but you have to know how to take hits like a football lineman, and at much greater numbers, you have to have the puck accuracy of a baseball pitcher or a top three-point shooter, and the stamina of all those sports combined.

does it really matter that its the lowest watched sport? why is that relevant? because of friggin espn's got nothing else to talk about and 24 hours and 3 networks to fill - a buncha geeks, sitting around crunching numbers and they report it as news. remember that the tampa bay bucs couldn't win when the temp was under 40 degrees? (they don't mention that shit anymore - after they beat down the packers in GB and then won the stupor bowl) and remember when all they talked about was how the NBA has overtaken the NFL in popularity? JUST BECAUSE MJ was all over the TV in Nike ads? that didn't last either. And then this NFL season with all the numbers and Payton Mannning et al. Football aint about numbers! Baseball is, not football - numbers in some sports are irrelevant .
polls asking america about the nhl are misleadingly ignorant.
the best idea I heard was that the nhl needs to drop 8 teams (good bye Atlanta Thrashers) and subsidized the Canadians teams - keep them afloat and make sure they start kicking some american ass so its starts a healthy rivalries.
and boycott sportscenter.
and go watch NASCAR because I hear america loves NASCAR and that means it must be good (or maybe just marketed well).

maybe it will become totally canadian again?

hockey is pretty big around here. local echl team has been going strong for 16 years, and the nhl is definately missed.
some say the league doesn't mind scratching a season because the talent pool was getting watered down.
yeah, well I fucking mind.

actually, the stars are pretty big in dallas too. this really sucks. i was hoping to see a few games at least..
we need to bring in scab owners!
- blaw0
scab owners... ha! no shit.
the term 'lockout' speaks to me.
speaking of owners having a bad day, fowler just wants to buy the vikings and meanwhile he's getting his knuckles cracked for b.s. on his bio.
rule one when lying on a resume: don't claim to have played in the nfl, cfl AND little league world series.

They'll play next year.

I'll back that up BonSeff about the Dallas Stars.
I was in high school when they came down there. People loved it, and when they won the Stanley Cup in the 90s it was just awesome.
The thing they have going is that Dallas' downtown popularity has boomed over the past 5-8 years. The American Airlines arena that they and the Mavericks play in is amazing. Never been there myself but it is about as top-notch as it gets for indoor arenas. People go to the games because it's always an event.
The Stars just might be one of the best things to ever happen to Dallas sports.

I say they return to original 6, with Olympic size rinks. That would be the best hockey ever.

season saved!
i hope.
- _niko0
if they do end up saving the season, it'll be some of the best hockey ever played.
28 game season, high octane madness with every team having a legitimate shot at making the playoffs.
go Habs.
- ********0
sorry niko but there is no chance of anyone saving this season.

i found myself watching the second half of a college basketball game last week.
