Blofeldt, congrats to you on your ethical code of conduct. Together, you and the RIAA will unite and create a new world vision and effectively end digital piracy. Sarcasm and wit will be your weapons of choice and no adversary will prevail.

Actually, I say 'nicked' but i pointed out to them it was a bit off them downloading it for free, and they offered me a bottle of jack daniels in return.
Was just trying to make myself sound tough

Were you trying to make yourself look like you actually get laid by putting a condom wrapper on your site too Blo?
See. Personal attacks hurt. Can we just hug and be friends?

i feel bad about it, but i honestly cannot afford to buy cd's...i can barely pay my bills...poor excuse i know but it's the truth...but to make myself feel better i go to the shows when artists are around...

There are quite often threads on here about being ripped Steve. Designers get rightly pissed off if someone steals they're hard work.
But it happens all the time with music. I think downloading tracks for free is actually BENEFICIAL to the music industry for reasons I stated earlier.
I just hate the indifferent attitude to it, especially by people here who are also creative people.

cd's are a dated format. buying mp3's is the right direction, but it should be cheaper and there should be some sort of added incentive to obtaining the music legitimately rather than the current tactic of lawsuit threats. record labels just need to be a bit more creative and stop shafting the artists in the process.

that new hp that comes with a cd label printer inside the drive could be another step in the right direction for making the transition to obtaining music digitally...i know for me it sucks to spend the money you would on a cd and not have the album art or anything to go with it...i dunno, maybe?

I buy all my music.. I said it. Itunes takes alot of my money... I actually just bought a Prefuse 73 album off there (its fucking sweet fyi).
Downloading music hurts the artist on a smaller label like Warp (who need all the money they can get so they can keep releasing fucking ace albums).
Criticize if you'd like, but its true. I wouldnt want someone taking my work for free.
- Blofeldt0
I'm not hurt by that Kona, i'm sorry if i hurt your feelings though, i figured you had tougher skin.
Anyway, think about where that whole album of MP3's came from the next time you download one, and how much you enjoy. And the likey hood of the artist never recording anything again because they can't afford too.
If not for them, for me *sniff

oh yeah, cds are are passe.
Vinyl or Mp3 all the way.
- k0na_an0k0
I won't critize you becaue iTunes gets a shitload of my money too.
- ricstultz0
...its just so damn easy to press purchase.
:)

The funny thing is Blo, I do pay for all of my music (at least after Napster went bad, then ironicly my harddrive crashed and I lost all of it), and I do have tougher skin, you for some odd reason took a personal shot out of the blue. So I fired back. No worries. I'm still wondering what the other dude meant by his comment. I'm still not able to figure out his writing. Fucker.
- Blofeldt0
I think he was saying he was going to rip off your design work to see how you liked it or something.
Good one on buying your MP3's, i still buy CD's because they seem more real, and i would be scared of my hard drive crashing like yours did.
*I've got a gig tonight and as Tara said i'm raking it in. A massive £50! Down to the Maserati garage tomorrow woo!
*Joke

Kona- your website design will be on the top ten least to claim as my own. I am just about to add your work to my portfolio.

+++++++++++++
Ah, so maybe least=list?!? See, least threw me off as in "your site sucks, I'd never claim it as my own". BUT, then you talk of adding my port. Ok. I get it now.But I don't get it.
- puter0
yeah I meant "list" (I was typing something earlier that I used least... combined the two- my mistake-
I was trying to make the point that no one, especially artists who live off their work, likes to have their shit stolen.
Everyone talks about the price of CD's, or that when they tour they make money... for one now you can get songs cheaper than CD's- and how people think 99 cents or cheaper is TOO much for a song when again- bottled FUCKING water cost more- well that amazes me.
Have any of you ever been in a band? Have any of you ever been on tour? Unless your fucking Britney Spears you are not going to get rich off tour.. and even with someone like her- tours that big cost tons of money and involver endless travel and work.
Take a band like Modest Mouse who are now big shots... I booked them in Philly during the Lonesome West tour and their guarantee was 400.00 - that was to travel from Texas in a stinky van for 30 hours... they could have made more working at McDonalds.
I think artist should offer free material for people to preview, and most do now on most websites, but if you like the artist you should purchase the art- not just steal it off the wall like you have some god given right to do so.
And you can not use the "they make enough money" excuse either. So do Lawyers, Doctors, Football players, stock brokers, and the rest of them. Just because ANYONE is well off does not give you a right to steal from them.
- Blofeldt0
well said puter, my point exactly!

ahhh, nice. prefuse has a new album out!? i didn't even know. i'll def. buy it if it's on itunes right now.

- lvl_130

- lvl_130
