well initially i was like dude what unoriginal, but then rasko mentioned that more competition is healthy and i totally agree with that. plus being in england shipping is bound to be a lot cheaper for europeans.

anyways, are you going to screen submissions or basically let everything go up for voting?

rabattski - we're going to screen designs for all the standard stuff... copyrights, more than the allowed number of printed colours, small halftones, excessively profane or offensive material, but as for design...

It's a hard call. My perception of what's good may be radically different to what you think is good. We can screen stuff on taste and decency, but we have no hard and fast rules.

We're kinda hoping to get a good fashion conciencious community going who will be able to tell us (thru the forums and voting) what's good and what ain't. We'll have final shout on what get printed, because after all, the site was designed to get away from the bog-standard uk tees. Too much TopShop influence and it'll prob get canned.

Hopefully you guys will have weeded it out by this point.

Hey... After all, I'll be wearing this stuff when we do the university stall days around the UK, and I don't wanna look like a dick!

can i suggest something? thing is, my problem with tl is that most designs are utter crap. if you start voting and design after design after design is just bad you either quit or go on automatic pilot and just keep on hitting those zeros. both not really fair for the good designs.

now you can solve this quite easy, have a "jury" of for instance 10 people, different backgrounds, different tastes. basically a cross slice of your audience.

every new submission is put on hold. has to go thru the jury first. now every day they log in or per e-mail they get a list of new submissions. they only have to rate it. a script calculates the score and if it's high enough it'll be up the site for everyone to vote, if it's too low the script will send the maker an e-mail that it's not good enough. it isn't that complicated. i think the average quality will go a lot higher and people will be more involved in voting / rating.

i think thats a darn good idea rabattski! the only way this site is going to work or gain respect (if thats not too harsh) is by producing some good shit - better than the repetitive crap on threads atm.
as youre fellow Notts lads I wish you well.

  • rabattski0

i think you're right with-a-t, since they are basically sort of the same they could set themselves apart by consistent quality.

  • imakedesign0

good luck with it all, hope it all works out for you.

  • rasko40

you should set some rules, like no fucking deer heads and shit like that.

good idea rabattski - thumbs up.

tshrt, you are doing a good thing and fuck all these negative cunts on here that have just pulled you apart like the rabid dogs they are.

3 cheers for the good guys who recognise a good idea, even if it's not 100% original. Who cares? Some of these cunts wouldn't know a 100% original idea if it swallowed them, so why bother trying? Just reinvent, reuse, recycle, reinterpret. Who fucking cares?

Threadless is boring and your site looks heaps better, even if it doesn't look so good on IE 5 for Mac (shame on me, I should upgrade!)

Please take Rabattski's excellent advice about a "jury".
But, I'm not so sure about using Continental tees - the girls ones are better quality than the boys. Have you looked at American Apparel?

We're gonna be using them for our next batch of designs.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your thoughts guys, they're much appreciated!

We'll work your ideas into our next update of the site... Which should be sometime next week.

Everyone here is pretty exhausted at the moment, and the initial torrent of abuse we got didn't do much for everyones moral. Thankfully, that's calmed down now, and the constructive crits are coming in. The Tshrt crew are having a well earned break so we can chill, then hopefully come back recharged with some more ideas.

We'll be trying to add a more community feel to the site, offering forums, email/SMS post boards, and mini-blogs. Let us know what other features you'd like to see.

  • tshrt0

Thanks for that shotoshi! You've just raised moral by a few notches!

We'll def. take onboard the jury idea, even if just to see how it pans out.

We'll look into AA tees, but out printer seems to have problems sourcing them reliably, which is important if we're gonna be printing a new set regularly. We're still on the scout for other tees too, so feel free to let us know your thoughts.

As for IE 5... If you send us a screen shot to we'll see what we can do to improve cross platform accessibilty (prob not a great deal, but we'll give it a shot). We already know there are some annoying formatting bugs on FF/Moz and Opera, which we're aiming to fix over the next month or so.
