cheers winter.

moth, that is bollocks.
MX - you write for the Daily Mail? :)
- rabattski0
myth or not. better to be safe than sorry.
- rabattski0
i think the effects of peakoil will at this rate be even more desastrous for the civilization than global warming.
- ********0
It's not bollocks Kuz.
It's probably the one thing that Mr Bush has got right.
I still think we should cut this shit out though. It's not good for us. The planet will cope though, IMHO.
- winter0
cheers!
i agree, no harm in being on the safe side.

course the planet will cope moth. And so will we. But it's gonna have dramatic effects. And it is not a myth. There's mountains of evidence. George Bush has not got it right. And global warming is a real phenomena that isn't simply about "oh we're coming out of an ice age, 4billion years ago the earths surface was 1000 degrees celcius, so this is not that dramatic".

There's mountains of evidence.

There is not!
Bahh. I've not the time to debate it right now. Maybe at NT drinks we can butt heads on this one...Just remember - I'm bigger than you though...

look, most people tend to forget to look at global changes in a geological sense and a geological timeframe. for a humanbeing is 10,000 years a very very long time, for earth 10,000 years is nothing, it's nothing more than a breath. so global changes, for instance the global temp increasing by a couple of degrees in such a short timeperiod is quite a drastic change within geological sense. think about that.
- ********0
yeah sure rabbatski.
But climate change IS happening, whether is is only a tiny bit in global ecological terms or woteva
And pollution IS having an effect on it.
Don't know why you'd deny those simple facts. I mean come on....
You can debate the relative effects of human civilisation on climate change - but that is the only debate you can have - on the RELATIVE effects of human civilisation on the real climate change that is actually goin on
- rabattski0
dude, i'm not denying climate change. actually i think the world will be a fucked up place due to global warming *and* peakoil within 50 years if we don't do anything about it.
i just wanted to point out to criticasters that you have to look at it within a different timeframe and not a human timeframe.

it pisses me off so-ooo much how difficult it is to be environmentally friendly in london. the example given above about how businesses get charged to recycle is spot on.
went to germany earlier this month and every single public bin is divided up into recycleable sections. on rubbish day every business sorts their waste and stacks it in seperate piles, i think they get fined otherwise. in london you call the council to get them to send round recycling crates and they dont do it. they should make it difficult not to recycle, not a hassle to chase.
i told off the checkout bloke the other day cos he was trying to make me take a plastic bag, ok it was his way of flirting "go on you know you want one" (i know) but dammit people should have to pay for bags, they shouldn't be automatic.
- ********0
yeah rabattski i know. I was aiming my argument more at moth, who seemed to be denying the pheomena altogether
- ********0
I think we should all shower together.
Well. Some of us. I'm not so about Kuz...
- ********0
I'm not denying global warming is happening, I'm denying it's a direct result of us.
- ********0
you dont scare me moth
- ********0
shit, sorry i said that. actually you do :/
