I love the Darkness, the whole album rocks, and they were about the best live show i think i've ever seen. who can be so up tight as to call them lame? you could at least say "funny"

there are a lot of crappy rock bands here in germany that are quite successful - but the music is so bad, beyond words

I agree with all of the above. A good rule to mark lame bands is they are all prefixed with 'the':
The strokes
The white stripes
The vines
The darkness
The kings of Leon
The .....
