(Dec 16 04, 05:10)I just can't see sony being approached by a student, and giving him a chance, yeeeah right!
I guess you know how the pitching system works?

Hey you guys remember plotDev? some of those kids were just out of highschool and doing work for badboy.
also, NoPattern, that kid hasn't even hit puberty and look at his client list.
Corporations are being more acceptable to hiring young firms and designers because of the edge and sensible to youth they bring into their work. For certian clients and situations its more then ok to be a young buck and working for them, because that degree of intesity and perspective is needed to reach thier target audience.
40yr/o marketing guru's can't see the same vision as 21yr marketing student. New breed, new blood, etc all that crap.

I sent one as well. Man shellie, you did the ben folds website. You are my new role model. Ben Folds is the man, I mean snoop dogg is cool too.
Do webdesigners get to meet musicians they make sites for?
- fate0
Shellie thought I should clarify: When I said I'm looking for people with free time and talent, I mean that the projects I have going on right now aren't paying, they are free pitch work. That doesn't mean I'm not for getting paid clients and working together for the Benjamins, simply that I have some old projects I don't want to see go to waste.

well put.

i've sold spec work before, not to sony, but a local company. nothing wrong if you got a good idea and time to spare. not only does it help your design skills and book, but you get some salesmanship experience.

word, rise.

usually no you dont get to meet the musicans. i deal with their management and the label. usually the musican could care less and most of the time the comps dont even get passed infront of them. its all suits.. management, label, and product managers. its not that glamourus.

Thanks for crushing my dreams with one foul post.
I was already picturing me and Ben rocking out in my college apartment, him rocking and me designing his site as he looks on with approval. Lots of high fives and jamming and desinging.
Too bad.

I'm still trying to figure out who Jaxz was
(think that was his username)

Really shellie? I thought that ben folds was all about fighting the power and damning "the man" now since his sony deal turned south. Its sad that he doesn't care about his artwork. I though he was all into photography as well.
good work on the site btw
- Beech0
hmm since his site and everything is sony i guess I got somebad rumours. I thought he had his own production company now.

if you're still looking for people, i just sent you a mail...
- save0
fate, aren't you still at school though?
- abizzyman0
'student' or professional - if the work and professionalism is there, why wouldn't they look at it?
You get the right person and you're in... it's all a matter of timing w/luck.
I've gotten jobs as an 'unknown' and happen to know a few others that were either at the right place at the right time - or happened to have something that caught someone's eye and they ended up getting work (there's an NT fellow who's a perfect example)... I could care less if it's Sony or some mom & pop shop...
it's all about timing... how the hell do you think companies get started?

This ben folds site is like a shit!!!
