i've sold spec work before, not to sony, but a local company. nothing wrong if you got a good idea and time to spare. not only does it help your design skills and book, but you get some salesmanship experience.

preach on, rise. ;)
well put.

Hey you guys remember plotDev? some of those kids were just out of highschool and doing work for badboy.
also, NoPattern, that kid hasn't even hit puberty and look at his client list.
Corporations are being more acceptable to hiring young firms and designers because of the edge and sensible to youth they bring into their work. For certian clients and situations its more then ok to be a young buck and working for them, because that degree of intesity and perspective is needed to reach thier target audience.
40yr/o marketing guru's can't see the same vision as 21yr marketing student. New breed, new blood, etc all that crap.

I think the right word to use instead of 'pitch' in this case is 'spec'. You're welcome!

danke Dutchboy.
It was never my intention to trick anyone into working for nothing, nick. I'm not like that. I was just looking for people in a similar situation as myself: lots of time to spare. I know I didn't clarify enough in my first post , but I think I made it clearer throughout this thread.

no - I think he's doing a good one for so young. bad manners for these people to say the worst to him like this
- DutchBoy0
true rasko.
note to Fate:
try to be realistic though!
:)
- Rand0
say something insulting, herb
- DutchBoy0
come on, guys. Give Fate a break. Ofcourse it'd be better if he'd be a bit more honest in this thead at the start that he is a student.
BUt if he manages to achieve what he says, good for him!
if not, he'll hit the ground hard, and stand up and learn from it.
i do agree that Fate has to be honest toward any partner in this respect as they do not need to take the consequences for bad information.
- rasko40
its like he said 'think of it like WEFAIL'
sorry, couldn't resist. but good luck!
- nick0
ha ha rand
- Rand0
herbertg-- the dark side of wendell?
- DutchBoy0
save i agree with the others here.. you are being way pessimistic here..
ofcourse fate knows he does not make a great chance but at least the guy is taking initiative and employing himself and his creativity as a trial for a carreer to come. Most students i know do not usually do this sort of thing.
You can learn a great deal of the mistakes you make in an early stage.
and if Fate likes the PSP a lot then it could be an extra motivation to make something awesome for it.
i have used these sort of tactics as well and it enriched me with knowledge and guts.
*tiips hat to Fate.
keep going, man!
- HerbertG0
but I'm saying is right - it's like a bad website from 1990 no? yes
- nick0
listen...
fate, you're in High School, i don't think your in the position to be asking people to form a 'Professional Partnership'. working designers have rent/bills to pay, they dont still live at home with mommy and daddy. you should have been very clear with this in your first post 'im a student and looking for somebody to help me with some cool projects im working on'
this isnt bagging on you, this is just a reality check. for somebody in high school, what you're doing is really great. but this is a msg board made up mostly of working proffessionals, not kids who are still learning and completing their very first projects.
