Mimio, who said flawed human science is the be all - end all? I said such events transcend prideful human sciences.
As for my faith based in fact and the fatal flaws of the barely-a-century-old evolution belief... I'll gladly take a look at those books - I'm objective. And once again recommend the reading of "The Wedge of Truth", "Fatal Flaws" and "The Case for a Creator". Plenty of science for you there.

Ok - so i'm being cute.
Tell me discipler why you, the millions of others AND C.S. Lewis are right and the millions of others on the planet that either don't believe or believe in other gods, are wrong? What possible justification can you have except what a 2000 year old story book tells you.

i know I can't argue with the idea that two atoms just happend to to bump into each other and created the universe.
I do love passive agressive people, though

mimio, they rewrote every passage that in any way alludes to the deity of Christ in order to make him a creation, rather than creator - John 1:1, Colossians 1, Hebrews 1... and several other passages. They ultimately had to produce their own translation to support their doctrinal errors: The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.
Wierd stuff.

Xaos,
Science doesn't claim to know what caused the big bang, but it is fact concerning the origin of our universe. Mock it all you want.

skt, legitimate question.
1. The reason I don't believe in other gods is because the Bible, which I believe to be infallible, says there is only one true God.
2. I don't put Biblical Christianity in the same category as world religions. World reigions teach just that... religion. Which by definition is man's attempt to earn favor with a god via performance and behavior. In contrast, Biblical Christianity presents a plan of redemption that no man or woman could have thought up: God reached down to us and offers us a relationship with Christ as an absolutely free gift. Thanks to Christs atoning sacrifice at the cross.
3. As for the Bible being a "2000 yr. old storybook" please see the link in my post above in this thread which goes into a small treatment of the science of textual criticism and demonstrates the astounding innerancy of the Bible.

This and every other thread like it will perpetually be like watching a dog chase it's own tail...
round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round and round....

But what caused the Big Bang? The skeptic simply moves the question back a step.
An uncaused first cause, perhaps?

Christ is back and has been back for years. He was at Coachella 01 and I saw him in the restroom at the strip club last week selling candies and cologne... strange how he's only around when I drink...

now now, 5ub... sometimes discussions like these can be done maturely and debated in a somewhat friendly manner. And sometimes, more light is shed than heat... sometimes. After all, many great Christian minds arrived at their faith after some healthy debate. The problem is, people usually only have partial information on an issue.

Point5, that was Elvis.

That doesn't answer my question.
"The bible says so" is not a good enough reason to dismiss other belief systems as wrong. What if the bible is wrong? Can you even coprehend that with your blinkered (and quite scary) view of the world?
- xaoscontrol0
maybe not mimio, but that theory doesn't hold any more water than the idea of an all seeing all powerful 'invisible man' that created the universe and all life within
appearently, it's bad for me to mock the popular idea? shame on me.
- Mimio0
It's only ideas until we have proof of the origins of the big bang. It's alright to not know the answer.

JW's didn't rewrite to fit 'their doctrines'... they researched for years looking for original writings and did the best they could to translate the new and old testament based on as much historical / archiological fact as possible.
Let me just state that I'm not going to get into any arguments about 'what my faith believes' etc... because I know what my faith believes in.
I'm not here to preach - it's a waste of time online... but I will discuss respectfully. I've always respected people and their beliefs on NT. I hope you'll do the same w/me.
Now that I'm 'outted' as a JW, I'm going to walk on eggshells w/what I say - because I don't want to bring any shame or false ideas about my God, my belief and God and those who share my faith.
- Mimio0
Xaos, you're mocking a fact. Since the dicovery of microwaves people have been able to calculate the age and shape of the universe. I'm not arguing to destroy god either. I'm mainly saying that the bible allegorical and not scientific.
- xaoscontrol0
mimio, I understand that the big bang has been proven....not sure how, of course...I would be interested in reading about it, though....none the less, I just don't believe that it was a random thing. I do think that the root of it all...is FAR beyond the understanding of the human mind.
