The bible is full of many wonderful tales.

Withnail,
I hate to interject here, but being that I am sort of an apolgetic, I see a lot of people such as yourself posting a lot of quotes out of context. If you think your arguments are bulletproof, then maybe you shouldn't copy google searches?
Hate to sound rude, but I frankly don't consider manipulation as a good piece of education.
- discipler0
agreed, mimio... fascinating stuff. And I'm continually astounded by their accuracy...
- gruntt0
to quote george carlin -
religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you.

no... there is NO hell...
the bible speaks figurativley of the 'firey gehana' which was an actual place that they used to throw the dead bodies...
... never once in the bible will you find the term 'hell'.
Hell is non-existant.
... and crosses have nothing to do w/true christianity... they're things that goths and circa '91 madonna get to wear.

Right Discipler... how can one argue with the scientific absurdity of a virgin birth? Or the physical impossibility of a boat the size of a football field containing all the world's species of animals that crawl or walk.

and again with more Bill:
"Pain and suffering awaits anyone who questions God's infinite love"

incorrect!! God, according to the bible doesn't torture...
... he'll just wipe you off the face of the earth - done.
- discipler0
mimio,
The virgin birth is scientifically absurd... no question. But some people believe that the God who created science as we know it, is fully capable of transcending the limitations of natural law and intervening in his creation in a miraculous way.
So, I guess it's no more scientifically absurd than asserting that random chemicals could produce the ability to reason and have a will and emotions.
As for science and the ark, this article might help you understand a bit more:
- twooh0
haha. sort of funny seeing the absurdity and ignorance of people's responses.
- discipler0
hey abizzy, you have some Jehovah's Witness teaching in your past... am I right?
- 5ub5t80
". he'll just wipe you off the face of the earth - done."
Well that plan obviously hasn't worked.
I'm still here...
- discipler0
yeah, let me suggest that we not get our Theology from George Carlin. Evidently, he's been reading from the book of "I Hesitations", or perhaps "II Opinions"... not sure.

Discipler - Are you not a bit old to still have an imaginary friend?
- Mimio0
No paranormal effect has ever been observed or even reproduced in a scientifc way. I think it's safe to assume that they don't happen.
As fars as our evolution from simple acids and protiens. Let me recommend "The Selfish Gene" or "The Blind Watchmaker" ...again...which you probably never read. Some people like to resort to superstition to explain the world around them, I'm not one of those.
- discipler0
skt, hehe... cute. I'll let the millions of intelligent people across the globe who profess to having a life-altering relationship with a living savior who works in their lives on a daily basis, know that they are wasting their energy on an "imaginary friend".
Man... too bad I can't go back and tell C.S. Lewis, F.F. Bruce, and all the others know as well.
(end sarcasm)
- 5ub5t80
"incorrect!! God, according to the bible doesn't torture..."
Nah... he just gets all his little demony chums to do that for him. He's too busy smiting the smug.

jesus built my hotrod
- Mimio0
Yeah..really...Abizzyman..pick up your "torture stick" and follow me.
Weird thing about JW's, they rewrote their bible translation of John 1:1 so obviously.
