I used to wake to George Michael, Jesus to a Child. Never got sick of it and always awkoe feeling good.
You should also consider the amount of hrs you sleep, try make it a multiple of 3. As it coincides with the normal sleeping pattern. ie. 3, 6, or 9 hours.
Your body is in a deep sleep after 1.5 hrs and then comes out of it at the 3hr period... and so on...
Works for me.

the kid-a file is great - that is one of my fav albums. never heard John Mayer's version - its great.
I cut off the last part of 'Trader' by the Beach Boys, which is a nice soft melody that is beautiful.....I have been using that on occasion.

for the past month, ive been waking up to this awesome instrumental mix cd i made which consists of mogwai, godspeed, tristeza, album leaf, explosions in the sky, and then a little bit of the fucking champs to stir things.
all bands (except the fucking champs of course) have that light, airy, sweeping, swirling guitars, epic crescendos kinda sound....so they are perfect to wake up to.

I wake up to the local Mexican radio station. The announcer usually screams his name "EL CUCUYYYY!!!" and there is no way in hell I'm going back to sleep once I hear that.
