Nintendo DS
www.nintendo.com/syste...this is a PSP killer.

(Nov 24 04, 10:24)If this was a games forum you'd be shot down in flames as a Nintendo marketing troll.
DS is not a PSP killer, two different markets.

DS is nearly half the price of the psp. the psp battery life is a joke. although hell it does look nicer. less like a toy.

Exactly - the DS and PSP are targeted at entirely different markets. The DS is aimed squarely at the youth/family market, the PSP at the more serious gamer - you only have to look at each systems launch line-up to see that. They're basically using the same strategy as they did with the Gamecube.
I don't get what all the fuss is about with a touch screen and pen - what use is that really? Sounds like a gimmick and I can't see how they'll implement it into each game. Plus it's just another tiny peripheral that'll get lost eventually.

isnt the DS a more powerful machine tho??

the PSP os awesome, i've got a dev kit here. the battery life isn't as bad as people are saying, it's something that was addressed before the JPN launch. the screen is incredible, as is the audio, gui and graphics, and as far as ergonomics go, it's just a perfect little thing.

The one reason why I will be buying a PSP and not a DS:
WipEout Pure.
Fuck yeah.

(Feb 23 05, 02:31)We've got one here at work, the games that use the touchscreen and pen are okay (mostly mini-games with a bit of novelty value) but there's also a thumb-stylus accessory which is worn on your left thumb and allows the touchscreen to be used as an analogue joystick.

kappa i love my DS, definately buy one tomorrow! it is a really great little handheld gaming machine.
i bet the PSP is going to crash and burn, but that's just me.

smellvetica, where did you get the dev kit?

the ds is great. some games can be downloaded of other ds's, so you don't need to buy a game cartridge.
the pen is very useful in messaging and for those times you need better speed in the games itself.
i even love the alarm clock.

god, you guys. you can't be serious with this thread.
will you be able to check your email on your ds, use it as a cellphone, watch full-length feature films, enjoy audio in fucking 7.1 surround sound (no one even encodes anything in 6.1 yet), enjoy your favorite videos, mp3, photos, take pics and video on a camera using a memory stick and just slide it into your console and view them there? ...and still manage to not look like a dork kid with a nintendo product?
the answer is no, my friends. no.
with psp you will.

my boss actually got each of us at the company a Nintendo DS (theres only 6 of us, mind you)
I really love the simple 3D of Marioworld, but I'm honestly expecting the PSP the blow the shit out of the DS.
- patnoodle0
Hehe!
The Nintendo won't fail, neither will the PSP. Both will do really well cause (as I said before) they're aimed at different markets.

cheers fawn, just got it.
I love it.I have had a gameboy since the 1st ones came out in cream. Strangely the DS is heavier than the original gameboy.
The PSP will rock no doubt, but I'm sure it'll be a fair bit more expensive. I'll also gift myself that i think.
Anyway back to my new DS.

hmmmm the PSP had a recall on them because of a faulty square button......way to trip out of the gate. Also the button layout, is a little wack. The positioning of the eject button is in a kinda of shitty place =, You can actuallly accidently eject the UMD if your finer slips, which happens every once in awhile, especially in fast paced gameplay. Not a big deal but still annoying.

DS is not GameBoy thats why they didn't use the GameBoy brand on it a new GameBoy is on its way this fall. Also PSP is a better choice cause of Wipeout Pure.
