seriously, working for 'the man' can suk, but like del_razor said at least its a job. But really think for a moment,..
what else would you rather be doing with your self?
Would a different job be the answer?
I had it made at one time working for a husband+wife team, sure it suked but it paid the bills. The fighting was real bad, (bad enough that they in turn divorced!) and I eventually left for reasons of my own, But it was steady work and pay.
All you can do fifty50 my brother is your best work. Day in and day out, and before you know it those days on the second floor of the casa will be a thing of the past.

i get so fed up about people moaning about their job ! I couldnt be bothered, reading your post but if your pissed off why moan !?! Do something about it... The power is in your hands... no ones forcing you to stay where you are...

i feel your pain - they feel like they can do whatever they want - fuck 'em - in return, just hoard what u can, take advantage of everything; take home all apps and programs that they buy, dump them on your home machine - take papers, pens, anything u can get your hands on- in short, make the most of what u r provided with, then move on.

Yeah I don't like moaning about my job either, which is why i clarified that i just landed a job in Europe that I will be starting in two months and I can't wait to leave this husband&wife team. I've already decided that I'm going to take a nice steaming shit on their front lawn on my last day.

another reason why i hate my job...
I walk into work this morning to find the computer I work on - the 17" Powerbook (yeah I work on a powerbook) - has disappeared. When I ask what happened to it, the boss (mother) says "Oh Danielle's boyfriend took it". Danielle is the boss' daughter. So they give me a f*cking iBook to work on instead. This thing has NONE of the programs that I need, and all my working files are on the Powerbook. When I ask why the boyfriend of the daughter has it, they explain that he "needs it" to study for some exam or some bullshit.
So I explain to them that all of my programs and working files are on this computer and that I need it if they want me to get any work done, so the daughter reluctantly fetches the computer from her room in which her boyfriend is sleeping, dumps it and all of its cables on the table beside me and tells me "You need to give this back to him when he wakes up."
So I say "why the hell does he need this computer, why can't HE use the damn iBook?" and the only response i get from her is "BECAUSE".WTF is that? This lazy fuck has all of his stupid Microsoft Word documents scattered on the desktop of this Powerbook and he NEEDS this more than me... BECAUSE? that is some bullshit if I've ever heard it. Dunno if the fuckface is awake yet but he's not getting his grimy hands on this powerbook unless he sucks a fart out of my ass.
End Rant.

Oh, where do I begin. For starters, I work for a family owned opperation. The owner is at retirement age and insists on still walking around micromanaging everyone. HIs sons seemingly have NO DIRECTION and are content in doing what they do. There are two divisions to this company, the retail side and the events side. The sons are more interested in the events side. The retail side is suffering, yet nobody wants to make use of the contacts we've made in the media for marketing purposes. The President (son #1) won't pursue large corporations for partnerships...he waits for them to contact him. but this company isn't a household name.
I'm one of two people who are paid to do creative related stutt. Yet, we're reduced to doing shit work. We should be in an office together conspiring on what the next step would be...but instead, I have to sit in the events department (assumingly so the president can call me to his office and not have to wait.)
I'm stunted as a designer here.. I have no creative growth. This place, I truly do not like.
I smell contract/freelance work in my future.
