so, no, the identity is not the brand. The identity is a way of communicating the brand—communicating the principles/values that make up a brand. In a sense, an identity should be a efinition of the brand—a way of answering the question about a brand.

yes. true.
some people think a brand is the result of identity usage/application.. but a brand is merely defined by a products/companies qualities/culture etc.
the identity is shaped by translating these qualities.
then by carrying out the brand with it's identity in various media: now that is branding.
