There's lots of great new music, you just won't find it on MTV.
dig around at Pitchfork:
they've guided me to all kinds of great stuff.

rock n roll is the new hip hop.
only kidding, music is music. i'm not going to tell mos def and the roots to stop mixing up jazz and rock and roll and hip hop.

Algo is hip hop is currently the most popular music worldwide like it or not.
- mrdobolina0
rock n' roll is too vague of a term.
- mr_snuggles0
What I meant to say is
"hip hop is currently the most popular music worldwide like it or not."

this thread is the new bullshit.

Chuck Berry = RocknRoll
Lenny Kravits is not Chuck Berry.

Doesn't every generation say this about the next generation? Like saying that kids nowadays didn't have the respect for adults that MY generation had...

blackeyed, how old are you?

i rock

That comment was/is taken out of context. For me saying hip hop is the new rock n' roll, it's like saying grey is the new black. I'm not saying one is better than the other, all I'm saying is hip hop culture in general is the new pop thing. Almost every commercial using artist endorcements utilize a hip hop or R 'n B icon. Look at how many TV shows have been created around hip hop icons in the past 5 years.. I'm not saying it's better than rock, it's just an observation on trends.

wow. I guess I should like hip-hop then. I guess it really is groundbreaking and full of super talented artists. People that do't care about image or the material aspects of life.

algo... good music is good music
labels were created for record stores to be able to properly catalogue
- Algo0
exactly, good music is good music. And labels have nothing to do with it. I listen and respect all genres of music. Just can't find that much stock in hip-hop. There's true talent there, just sparse.

Hi, I'm a self-contradicting statement. Pleased to meet you!
- mr_snuggles0
What sort of hip hop have you listened to Algo? Have you only been exposed to what's on the radio or tv. I'd be delighted to help open your mind towards some good hip hop. I would agree that mainstream hip hop is kinda boring and unintelligent, but there's soooo much more out there.

"Hi, I'm a self-contradicting statement. Pleased to meet you!"

sounds like you have some issues to work out... open your mind first and your ears will follow
- Algo0
ok.... Ive been exposed to shit you havent even heard of yet. I am a studio musicain (21 years experience) and have worked with many artist you have heard of and haven't. There have been those who have grammy's, platinum records and all that trimmings that come with it. Then there were those who could barely pay their studio time and where eating cheese and bread for meals. Now. you guess who was more inspiring and driven to make the best music? Don't get me started on music kiddies
