Wendell, you read my mind completely and took the words right out of my mouth.

every man.woman has to make his.her own decision based on personal factors. Smoking(cig)is dangerous, disgusting, sublime, relaxing, and stimulating all at the same time. Take your pick.

"there is not any free gold hanging for the men who quit!!!!! "
that's profound!

Ahh yes, see we're Libertarians when it comes down to it. Live and let live is my motto.
If my neighbor wants to smoke crack and fuck his pitbull that's fine by me.

the worst thing about quitting smoking is it's hard to look so damn cooool.

good for you, normal.
bad habit. nasty. just takes time and practice but your lungs will thank you in the end.
theyre passing no-smoking laws in counties down here in GA...little by little, there are less bars and restaurants that you can go into and smoke. I think it's for the better....those smoking/non-smoking sections don't help much anyway.

Be very proud of yourself, and know that it takes at least a month before you stop having those chest spasm/seizing cravings.. I've been free for a year now. And it really feels like freedom. And there's no such thing as social smoking for someone who's truly been addicted.. don't play with fire man!

The act itself is the hardest thing. Nicotine makes your rationalize your actions but it is easy to quit.
But when you do quit and stop smoking (including vaping), you realize all the whacky rationalization you put yourself through to have that smoke.
You have to change your behavior and patterns you have built over the years. It's hard but it can be done. Know what triggers your need and change that. I used to always drink coffee with cig so I stopped drinking coffee.
Good luck

- Trust me I've tried. I hardly drink anymore because of that association. Vaping might be a crutch but it's a far healthier one for now.monospaced
- And thank you. I hope it works out.monospaced

i was surprised how it easy it was to just quit cold turkey.
I looked to medications, psychologist, vaping etc but the making a plan to quit was making me more anxious and started to panic so I never followed through, much like having an almost empty pack.
So I woke up one saturday, i decided not to smoke anymore. I kept the half a pack to see if I was serious and I was.

6 years ago for me, i had never touch a cigaret since..
I smoked 17-20 a day, then stopped by smoking 7 cigarettes the first day, then 6 the next and 5 the next and so on..
I always saved the last cigaret a day to sleep on.When i only got one cigaret left, i smoked that right before bedtime, just to wake up the next day as a clean nonsmoker.

Wow, my four year anniversary of quitting was a couple of weeks ago. Life is better as a non-smoker.
- Pot included?Nairn
- No, I still smoke pot, but I cut down drastically. It takes me 2 months to smoke what used to take me 2 weeks before.monospaced
- With a baby (now toddler), smoking pot just isn't the same. I'm already a walking zombie from lack of sleep, and I can't exactly blaze in the apartment anymore.monospaced
- ha, i totally empathise - i cut down massively from the onset of her pregnancy, so nowadays my monthly bill is but a fraction of what it was prior! :)Nairn

I quit smoking almost 2 weeks ago now. I went camping with a friend who smokes like a chimney. After, I decided I'd stop. I still smoke weed which that satisfies that craving enough. Other than weed, I haven't cheated at all and I'm really proud of myself. This might stick. I quit before for about 6 years, so, I know I can do it and stick with it.
