I'd like to see what you guys would do in that cop's shoe's. Given I hate the fact that this animal was killed but...

I think people should always be held directly accountable for anything their pets do. It's unfortunate that when this kind of thing happens, the owner gets off with a slap on the wrist while the animal gets euthanized, even though it's almost always the owner's fault for the animal's aggression

seeing as how most cops carry a big black stick, mace, and sometimes a stun gun i think he had a few other options, along with what the fuck he did to be face to face with the dog to begin with, like walking in the yard or did he just shoot it over the fence? dogs are territorial, they are protecting their territory and owner. of course when a dog attacks without warning to someone just minding their own business that is another story.

True Gabriel, especially when some idiot has a dog that is agressive in nature and doens't take the proper precautions to train it. Did you know that dogs will consider a stare down as a threat and possibly attack. Like a little girl in Chicago a couple summers ago, she was walking by some fuck who had a pitbull on a chain who was distracted trying to get laid with some chick. The little girl walked up and was just looking at the dog and it attacked her. Stupid fuck. THen he gets all defensive saying the girl attacked the dog. Gimmie a break.

actually pit bulls aren't any more aggressive towards humans than a lab or spaniel, it's just that when they are taught that it's ok to attack people they do a lot more damage and you tend to hear more about it. pit bulls can be, however, aggressive towards other dogs once they get to be 3 or so. especially if they're in a single-dog living environment. There's a lot of good info about that particular breed here:

kona, that's a whole other story...punks who get dogs like pitbulls and rottys to intimidate or whatever the hell should be imprisoned.
Owners should be held more accountable for their dogs. So many times I've been out walking my dogs when some scary ass dog runs up to me and my dogs growling and on one occasion trying to attack my dogs.

you know, I love dogs and at times I care more about animals than humans, but that whole thing is irresponsible. reminds me that there are some people that don't deserve owning a dog.
two words: obedience classes.

that pittbull story is a couple of years old....but I was RAGING when I saw it...I mean...tail wagging....what did that cop miss?
I have a Rottie, myself. He's a just a bull-headed lug but I'm thinking about giving him away as I don't have the time to train him and that's a dog that requires specific training.

If i was a dog and had a hick policeman showing me his gun I'd probably show him my teeth

Shoot the lazy fuck of an owner that couldn't be bothered to train the dog or keep it under control, and then send the dog to training camp for a couple of weeks - sorted.

Just for the record, the reason why dogs go for mailmen is because a dogs home is his territory, and this mailman, each day, comes to the outskirts of the dogs territory, but doesnt enter it, the dog sees the mailman as a preditor looking to take the dogs territory from him, a challenger. Hense the dog escaping and attacking said preditor.
But yeah, the owner should be fined, its easy to train a dog to like humans and to not be so territorial
