Why can't I open BBC Streams?

yes they are. and they also wanted to create the biggest outrage they possibly could to get the worlds attention. mission accomplished.
i don't know the ins and outs of this story, and haven't been keeping up with the news, but waht i know of the Moscow theatre seige - i would also blame Putin for his heavy handed, let's storm the bastards, handling of the situation. Very sad.

why are all the kids running out only in their underwear?
- DutchBoy0
it's good to see many many children in the safe hands of the army(hospitals/first-aid), altho they were forced to undress by the hostagetakers. don't know why, though.
let's hope most survived.

no clothes: humilation=mind control, psychological weakening techniques, reduced chance of revolt.

(sep 3 04, 03:47)apparently it was likely to be very hot in the gym. apparently there was no water supply and NTV said they had to drink their urine etc. this could be wrong cos the info is still sketchy

do not ignore the facts here, Kuz. The hostagetakers started, they started off explosions and making already quite a few casualties, plus almost all the hostages didn't get any food/water/medicine since wednesdaymorning.
think about it.

I would expect because children would soil themselves in that situation.... is why they are naked.

there wern't going to storm the building but apparently it happened very quickly after one of the negotiators left the building.
????????

the tsjetjenian story is a very very sad one.
keywords:
genocide, mass population control, mass rapes, termination of a country's infrastructure...very sad, try to look at it at a bigger perspective, i'd probably would get very inventive and deadly too if you got nothing to lose anymore.

================yeah, as i say, i don't know what's going on, and i have been deliberatly avoiding it. I'm just going by what the Russians did in Moscow, and how Putin's obsession with show of force led to Russian security forces killing other Russians. I don't know if the school kids have been killed, but if they had, questions need to be asked of Putin's handling of the situation. Obviously it's inexcusable and the hostage takers shud never have done it.

also, i have to agree with the govt. to NEVER give in to the terrorists demands, neither to let the rebels have their independancy. the whole region will become a new Taliban-esque reigned horror-state.
i am pro UN presence thouhgh, and i hope Putin will allow this soon.

russia or the soviet union has 100+ nationalities and very few of the ethnic groups joined the union willingly. uneasy alliance

Chechnya deserves independence. It's a crying shame that the whole movement was over-run by Islamist Mujahaddin in the late 90s. The cause for Chechen independence goes back 100s of years. Stalin had to deport masses of the population to quell resistance.

putin will never allow any UN presence in russia.

word Kuz?!
