FreeHand for me all the way. Only* because it was the first piece of software i used on a Macintosh computer.
-*It is the best though!

I really dont have the time or inclination to 'argue' with people who insist on attempting to sell me illustrator, I appreciate your choice and its benefits and certain superiorities.
I still prefer FreeHand, it seems to me more intuitive and organic, it seems to suit my happy randomness, it loves chaos.

rasko4, i am not here to argue, but just trying to understand your point of view. I've seen your work you posted and I guess the chaos and distortion is easier in Freehand.
I am not selling illustrator here, I am working with it already for 9/10 years. But I am gonna try and learn Freehand, to experience what differences it makes in feel, workflow etc.

I know I wasn't really referring to you, just past experience, funnily enough, I posted a thread earlier wanting to know a good advanced Illustrator book, so I think we both appreciate the strengths/weaknesses of each app :)

good illustrator book? Better get yourself a virtual training class like VTC, Lynda or Total Training... works. And Freehand? What are the best resources?

not too sure what to suggest as I'm self taught, maybe this place could shed some light:

Its not about the software or the computer, It is about the work you produce. It also doesnt matter how many people go for a job, if you are right then its yours.
The glass is always half full.

i've been trying Freehand for a while and i was able to create considerably different effects/styles then i did in Illy just because that was easier to do in Freehand.
I really liked how you could sort of numerically work with patterns, sizes, randomness etc.
- rasko40
well I find that software affects the work I produce, I mean, have you ever tried to produce something on a f*cking atari?!
- DutchBoy0
..yes, and try to make a bloody 2A ripoff with MS Paint! Bloody 'arrrd, i tell ya, mate!!
