Yeah, I agree on this one. I'm a salaried employee where I work, but that's kind of whacked out. It doesn't mean that an employer CAN'T pay overtime for those employees, it just means they don't HAVE TO.
COuld be worse. They could change the labor laws to be like Georgia's. Here, you don't have to have a specific reason to fire someone. HAppens where I work all the time. IF they don't like you, they wait to catch you....in fact one girl got caught in the middle of a personal phone call, was told to get off. She did. The was back on it again...got busted. The boss had some other chick witness him fireing the one girl. Crazy. I'm not diggin' that at all. It may be great for the under 23k crowd...I understand that they can use it greatly...but once again, the middle class is getting fucked.
I may actually be voting for Mr. Kerry...

Haa haa, no sh*t Africa has nothing to do with it and sure I have. I've lived in many more countries than just the two in Africa. But it does give me insight into various political topics.
Man, I come from a blue-collar family, but that doesn't mean I support Kerry or the Dems 100% of the time. Same for the Reps. Why vote entirely for them if you're a registered Republican or Dem? I always vote for the better man, as should everyone.
For example, I'm tired of this if you're African-American you have to vote Dem type shit. What the hell has the Dem party done for them? Most of them still live in shambles in comparison to other groups.

Bush did nothing. I never said you weren't. Domestic issues are one thing, but by and large people are examining what Bush is doing outside of the US more than anything. No? Living outside of the US as an Expatriot has enabled me to see the US from an outsiders viewpoint. It makes a lot of sense for people to hate the US on so many levels, but at the same time, there is much misunderstanding about it. Again, in my opinion as is yours.

You might remember me as an Independent, because I don't trust both Kerry and Bush. Regardless of the fact that Nader will NOT win, I still like what he has to say. I don't think that Kerry properly represents the small guy anyway.

and now it seems if you make $11.38 an hour or better you dont qualify for overtime?!?
thats prolly pretty average for costruction workers and framers. i have a few friends that run crews. i guarantee those workers arent going to want to work 40+ if they arent gonna get paid for it. but at the same time, i dont know any construction workers that work less than 50. and thats just one scenario. there is gonna be some pissed off employees.damn im glad i went to college.

yup, bonseff. basically anyone who does manual labor. It's a fucking shell game. they give a few people benefits, and take benefits away from millions of other higher paid employees. most of the peeps that make less than 23k a year don't even work solid 40 hour weeks. I dont know of many clerks at grocery stores or fast food restaurants that work fulltime.
