"how can you be fucking proud of having fought that war?"
whoohaa
(aug 23 04, 11:20)what a ridiculous statement, as if John Kerry didnt protest the war after he got back from Vietnam.
uninformed folks will decide our next president, its fucking sad.

exporting ketchup seems a little ridiculous, doesnt it?
how many jobs do you think Pepsi has overseas? They are an american company, should they ship cans of soda from youngstown, ohio to Moscow?

That sounds a bit off. There are plenty of Heinz plants all over. One large one in Zimbabwe. Probably set up by the late Republican Senator John Heinz of PA's wife, Theresa formerly of the same region in Mocambique. Same goes for all these American Branded/ReCycled goods.

what sounds off, JazX?

Just came across a bit of information regarding Kerry and his claim of the Bush administration sending jobs abroad. Well, it seems that the Heinz Corporation, owned by Kerry's wife, has 79 plants where it manufacturers products and 57 of the 79 are located in countries outside of the U.S. How many U.S. jobs are lost here?
Factories located at: Taipei, Taiwan (makes Heinz baby foods) Dublin, Ireland; Paris, France; Dovarmenez, France; Lisbon, Portugal; Madrid, Spain; Milan, Italy; Monguzzo, Italy; Athens, Greece; Warsaw, Poland; Pudliszki, Poland; Wodzislaw, Poland; Miedzychod, Poland; Moscow, Russia; Georgievisk, Russia; Cairo, Egypt; Tel Aviv, Israel; Haifa, Isreal; Elst, The Netherlands and 6 other plants there; Brussels, Belgium; Dusseldorf, Germany; Seesen, Germany; Turnhout, Belgium; Rovereto, Italy; Chateaurenand, France; North York, Ontario, Canada; Wheatley, Ontario, Canada; Caracas,Venezuela; San Jose, Costa Rica; Johannesburg, South Africa; Gaborone, Botswana; Harare, Zimbabwe; Cheguta, Zimbabwe; Wellington, South Africa; Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; Republic of Singapore; Auckland, New Zealand; Tokyo, Japan; Guangzhov, People's Republic of China (makes infant cereal); Qingdao, People's Republic of China (makes infant foods, ketchup, mayonnaise & puree); Inchon, South Korea (makes Heinz products and StarKist); Bangkok, Thailand; Mumbai, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; Surabaya, Indonesia; Manila, Philippines; Wanchai, Hong Kong.
Also recently purchased from Bordens these products: Classico Pasta Sauce; Aunt Millies Pasta Sauce; Mrs. Grass Receipt Soups; Wylers Bouillons & Soups.
Think of the conflict of interest a President would have who's wife owns business interests in all of these countries and others.

JazX, that's probably a more complex issue than it appears on the surface, but it's OK as long as it's not the cross eyed Aryan who can't think, read, or write without another white mans fist up his ass

true, just a point I wanted to bring up.

in all seriousness, it's a good point....but I think what is most disheartening (and I'm not sure this is the case with Heinz...if the info is accurate) but a lot of the companies who have recently been shipping out...receive large tax breaks and overseas profit is not taxed which would provide big incentives...not sure how Heinz operates, but I do not think Teresa is in charge of anything other than the Heinz Foundation (Charitable Trust)...

i think it just comes down to simple economics at the end of the day. larger companies just cant make money keeping all the mfg in the states. they cant compete. its sad.
and at the same time its harder and more expensive to go to college. so we end up seeing old people working at walmart and fast food places. highschool kids cant get summer jobs. shit is fucked and nobody has a solution, but both parties just claim to.
- mrdobolina0
so in essence, you think that a company like pepsi should export all of their products out of the united states so that a bottle of soda will cost 3 dollars american in other countries?
is it really outsourcing if the products are going to be sold and used in other parts of the world?
- jevad0
so um...basically...if your job invloves any kind of creative thinking...you don't qualify.
brilliant.

but I do not think Teresa is in charge of anything other than the Heinz Foundation (Charitable Trust)...

(aug 23 04, 11:41)yeah I couldn't agree more, it couldn't hurt having her though to try and set up shops in other countries. I don't think she has any bearing whatsoever on business matters with this company. Personally, I know individuals that work for Heinz Endowments http://www.heinz.org/ and they say the same. Big $$ though.

also, true, bonseff, but we need to give companies incentives TO bring jobs back to the US. We need to stop awarding the Corn Surplus to benefit makers of corn-syrup infused products which leads to the metabolism problems afflicting our 'overweight' population. Everything is relative, something the Republicants have not submitted themselves to believing in. We need to legalize Hemp, and make small farming possible again....so many things, so little time, so much trouble in this world.

mrdobolina
(aug 23 04, 11:42)I wouldn't think so, depends on how you look at it.

loudubs
(aug 23 04, 11:45)very true

To reiterate what 'loudubs' said: http://www.heinz.org/index.asp?l… Theresa at the top
My buddy, Gerry Balbier: http://www.heinz.org/index.asp?l… in the middle in Education
He's pretty excited at Kerry's prospect of winning though, I can tell you. Equates to one thing: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
- BonSeff0
i guess the only way to get started on this problem would be to put the smack down on special interest groups; how likely is that..
and these candidates talk the talk like they can generate all these jobs in a couple years, when it would actually take 5-10. a concept they think we the public cant understand.
- ********0
it's a tangled web
- mrdobolina0
very true, I dont want you guys to think that I am some huge liberal really. If Kerry becomes president I will be bitching then too. I just like to hate on presidents.
This jagoff had his chance and proved that he could take 75% of the world's sympathy after 9/11 and in three years turn it into animosity and focused hatred.
