Went to a paper convention yesterday night here in Vegas. Met this really nice guy who owns a print shop in LA er Rancho Cucamonga, dude claims to hold the record for the highest resolution print with a 1,110.80 line screen...dope eh?
Hes stopping by my office later to show me the poster they printed. I'm giddy!

snap some pics of it iDp?

I think hes going to leave one with me.
Looks like a promotional poster. The site's pretty ugly, maybe I make a trade with him.

nice, that poster should be interesting to look at through a jeweler's loop.

- mrdobolina0
do some macro shots of it iDp, if you can. thanks.

- mrdobolina0

Whoa, that's crazy! Definitely post images if you can. Is it waterless printing? I can't imagine how they can hold that detail any other way.

heh...print g33ks.....

isn't that resolution far beyond what the human eye can detect? I mean under a loop there probably wouldn't even be a dot pattern!

dunno I guess I'll have answers for you guys in a bit. He said he has some print computer genius that figured out some code that cracked a 500 line screen barrier that most printers hit. Also he has some software that was given to him by the creator just so long as he prints the guys stuff for him. I was drunk so these are bits and peices I remember. Cant wait to see the poster though.

there was a pbs post of a guy who invented a camera with like a billion mp once. he was looking for someone who could print the world's most detailed photographs.
someone hook these guys up.

this story sounds to me like "Bonsai Kitten" and "iPod Murder" and "G5 powerbook will be released september the first", haha!
case: if i send a high-res picture for use in a book to a printer, it is 300dpi.
if i give him a 600dpi image you can't see any difference, the result isn't any better.so if i send my poster to that 5 million dpi printshop, it is totally bullshit because you cant print out a photo better than it mathematically CAN be printed out.
it is a bit like in this HP advertisement: 5.7million dpi is customer misleading.
i'm sure they counted the dots on a SQUARE inch.
http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/htm…and that's the same thing your printer did when he told you he has a 5 million dpi printer.
i'm sure his printer has a 2200dpi resolution, and yes, that is about 5 million dots per square inch.any professionals out there who can confirm this?
