okay, okay...i got handed a printout of a bunch of images. these images had the pms color underneath that i am suppossed to use for their new web site. first off, i don't know shit about pms colors. in fact the term pms has a completely different meaning to me. second off, why hand a web designer a print out of your new color pallete with the color description in PMS!
can someone explain to me a way to translate these colors into hex? pretty please, i'll be your best friend...

in photoshop:
1) double click the foreground colour in the tools pallette.
2) click custom
3) from the drop down list, choose the pantone matching system (pms) your client has used. You can tell this from the letter following the number for each reference - eg. 456C denotes Pantone Solid Coated
4) Type the Pantone number on your number pad - Photoshop will automagically select this colour from the list
5) With the Pantone colour selected, click "picker"
6) Voila, your hex number just below the RGB.
7) To get the closest websafe colour to the PMS reference, simply click "Only Web Colors" Note that the web safe colour might be a long way off of the PMS colourend tx

to be exact: can someone please tell me what these PMS colors are in web/hex code (or at least close)
PMS 235-7
PMS 312-7
PMS 7-8
PMS 24-5
PMS 51-4
PMS 75-3seriously. can anyone help me? are these even true PMS colors? Damn, freelance sounds like such a good idea initially...then you remember you have to deal with clients and do crap like this : )

damn, the colors i had picked (visually) of the sheet were so far off!!! i thought they had a nice color pallete!? now i realize that i am working with a bunch of easter colors!? ugh.......

what tee says is the easiest way although i wouldn't go for websafe colours which is way too limited for this matter. photoshop converts pantone to rgb quite good but once in a while you have to adjust it manually a bit to get as close as possible to the desired colour.

strange, i dont have the pms in my drop-down list..

and just to follow up:
i didn't have the exact name you stated...but i did have a "Pantone coated" that seemed to have all the random number slash number combinations i needed.

anyone remember cyphen?
i wonder what happened to it.

btw those pms values you mentioned look more like textile pantone numbers than regular pantone numbers.

hey rabattski i think you're right. it's a custom window business so i think it will be what they wanted.
thanks for the insight though. i wasn't even aware of color systems that pertained to such a wide variety. heh...been doing web design for so long that i have become clueless to the rest of the design world...go figure : )

well pantone is typical print. but now you know what it is and what to do with it. i always double check with the creators of the corporate id if they already have an rgb/hex variation of it (most good cid developers do thath since web has become quite standard). odd that they picked textile pantone because it's textile ink and not meant for press (paper etc.) textile pantone swatches aren't standard in any app. you have to buy it.
