ah there in lies the beauty of religion... it is the "we believe in the right one" theory...
We are right, therefore we are going to heaven, unless you believe what we believe you will go to hell...

Supes, you know another thing "this" country was based on? Seperation of Church and state.
Take out.

The argument that gay peopel shouldn't marry because of rasing kids is ridiculous.
There is no law against a gay person adopting a child and rasing it with their partner. In fact, "between six million and 10 million children of lesbian, gay and bisexual parents currently live in the United States"
so, banning gays from marrying won't stop it.

froww... you didn't answer my question!

This still doesn't change the fact that 'Will and Grace' is a really crap show.

zedvox has the best idea, in a christian marriage it says 'til death do us part'.
so ban divorce.
how in the hell can you have an amendment that takes rights away from people, anyway?
The thing that kills me, is many christian conservatives don't want a ban on assault rifles, but they do want a ban on gay marriage. How the hell does that work?

do you?
yesdo you?
yesgood.

I think will and grace is funny shit... at least at the beginning... haven't seen it in a bit...

while voting isnt the best way to get a point across, it at least gives me a platform to be able to argue my point since i did something about it instead of sitting around flapping my gums with no action

froww the bible is a wonderful book. it sums up very ancient knowledge about people. you know, after living 30 years amidst your pairs you can see how it works. and everything is pretty much the same all over. especially now. and you can write lovely stories with rules of conduct which explain the best action for you to have inside a group. BUT if you only read that book you're just doing what you're told, not understanding what is really in there. And you must know that even that people haven't change so much since those days many things are functionally different and most conducts (as stated) don't apply to our days just as they are.
Shakespeare writes about everything too. A few years ago his folio became the world's first best-seller ever.
I just hope that one of the future books is not a TF collection of dreary episodes. Let there be a God...

"btw: all religion is based on fear... except for buddism "
umm....wrong...that all depends on the denomination. there are christian churches that preach the whole hellfire and brimstone and if that works for them, great...but there are plenty of churches that do not subscribe that method of ministry. Jesus peached LOVE. He didn't preach 'don't do this...you'll go to hell'.
That's OLD testement...
we all about da NEW testement...
much love

So am i suppose to hate or stop believing in god because my baby boy died 5 months ago? I'm not gonna sit here and deny that I questioned my faith or that I was angry at him. But I am only human.

jevad, you are posting in a thread about an issue that has personal values/beliefs/faith/whatever you call them at the CORE. so yeah, God and religion and different beliefs are going to come up. deal with it and stop being so rude.

"so that goes right to the heart of where does our morality come from? well? Where? Wherever you want? no, it comes from this thing called our conscience, which (and this is part of my faith/beliefs) is planted in us by our creator. this is why all of us have a sense of right from wrong."
-------------------- -------
We need look no farther than evolution to discover where our morals come from. Social creature have to create complex systems of interaction in order for it to work. Reciprocal altruism is about sharing being better for a getting recourses than finding everything ourself. The animals without a sense of guilt couldn't work well within this system. They didn't share and thus weren't shared with. They had a smaller chance of passing on genes. The animals with guilt, familial bonds etc. were simply more fit as social creatures. This is why we have a sense of right from wrong.
