Hopefully in the near future, this banning of gay-marraiges and "civil union only" nonsense will be viewed on a similar level as the "seperate-but-equal" crap that was spewed out before the civil rights movement.
Parellels can easily be made between the treatment of blacks 50 years ago and the treatment of gays today. For instance, 50 years ago, the black representtaion on TV was highly stereotypical. Today, we have "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"--a minstrel show that essentially reduces gays to sheer novelty.
The major difference, of course, is that there is no dispute over one's blackness. No argument can be made that blackness is simply a disorder or a result of confusion.

Objections:
1. When the State sanctions homosexual relationships and gives them its blessing, the younger generation becomes confused about sexual identity and quickly loses its understanding of lifelong commitments, emotional bonding, sexual purity, the role of children in a family, and from a spiritual perspective, the “sanctity” of marriage. Marriage is reduced to something of a partnership that provides attractive benefits and sexual convenience, but cannot offer the intimacy described in Genesis. Cohabitation and short-term relationships are the inevitable result. Ask the Norwegians, the Swedes, and the people from the Netherlands. That is exactly what is happening there.
2. The introduction of legalized gay marriages will lead inexorably to polygamy and other alternatives to one man/one woman unions. Why will gay marriage set the table for polygamy? Because there is no place to stop once that Rubicon has been crossed. Historically, the definition of marriage has rested on a foundation of tradition, legal precedent, theology and the overwhelming support of the people. After the introduction of marriage between homosexuals, however, it will be supported by nothing more substantial than the opinion of a single judge or by a black-robed panel of justices.
3. Children will suffer most.
The implications for children in a world of decaying families are profound. Because homosexuals are rarely monogamous, often having as many as three hundred or more partners in a lifetime — some studies say it is typically more than one thousand — children in those polyamorous situations are caught in a perpetual coming and going. It is devastating to kids, who by their nature are enormously conservative creatures. They like things to stay just the way they are, and they hate change. Some have been known to eat the same brand of peanut butter throughout childhood.
More than ten thousand studies have concluded that kids do best when they are raised by loving and committed mothers and fathers. They are less likely to be on illegal drugs, less likely to be retained in a grade, less likely to drop out of school, less likely to commit suicide, less likely to be in poverty, less likely to become juvenile delinquents, and for the girls, less likely to become teen mothers. They are healthier both emotionally and physically, even thirty years later, than those not so blessed by traditional parents.
Furthermore, it doesn't take a PHD in Physiology to realize that the human body is not designed for physical union between two men (or two women).

on that note, fingercore, i bet every homophobe knows someone who is gay that they dont know about, and they may even be friends with that gay person.
if a gay person is NOT fucking you in the ass or embarrassing you on the softball diamond, then why does it matter. if you hate gays because all you can think about is whether theyre going to fuck you in the ass, then you need to get your mind out of the gutter.

oh dear lord, what froww just wrote was the biggest bunch of B.S. i have ever read.
oh my god...
- mrdobolina0
froww, christians don't own the concept of marriage.
- froww0
Please expound Leah... how is it B.S.?
- froww0
Nope, they don't "own" it. However, their God instituted the covenant in the first place. So, probably should follow His guidelines.

Ha ha.. are you for real?

I'm an atheist and hetero... where do I fit in?

honestly, i could care less either way. doesn't bother me.
my only concern would be the kids.
when i was young kids got picked on bad enough for being smelly, or dumb, or cause they were taller or shorter than everyone else... whatever. the littlest stuff, and for a good number of those kids it did something psychologically to them. my only fear would be the other kids that could potentially pick on them for something they have no control over and could affect them for the rest of their lives.

I would say in the category of folks who shouldn't give a rip about marriange and just shack up with someone.
But who am I to say.

(aug 4 04, 08:20)who is this "He" you speak of? christian god doesnt exist, and if he does, why in the hell would he hate or punish his own creation??? it makes no sense people!!!
btw, did you know there are gay rabbits, seagulls, and other animals? maybe it is natures way of dealing with population control? besides lots of gay people are really great people!
- froww0
Yes, Kona... kids will suffer the most.

The problem is most ppl still think of it as a novelty where it should be just as normal as a black or white, christian or muslim person. On the other hand respect comes both ways, so the gays should also consider the fact that not everybody is comfortable with openly gay behavior (we don't live in an ideal world) and should act according the situation. Which most do btw.
This is the Dutch approach. It works pretty good, the only flaw is that after a while everybody will be the same and everything becomes normal and that makes the world a lot less exciting

froww, one more question.
why do christians always have to be in other peoples business?
