this hair took me 1 day to be done.. even though I didn't finish as it was supposed to be realistic...

I agree grayhood, the mesh tool is by far the hardest tool to conquer in illustrator, at least for me. I have mad respect for everyone that can understand the logic enough to make it work.

I hate hair too. I have about a 100 illustrations like this
that I have done except for the hair.

That's lovely, Epictive! I'd say to do a solid black shape for the rest of the hair, with a few "ghosting" highlights.
