I haven't read all of posts in this thread but Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique album is the most diverse use of samples ever. To this day I'll hear songs that I've never heard before and say "oh shit! That's from the beasties song___"

Orb Live
Adventures in the Ultraworld

The ultimate best track has to be Mr. Dibbs- 231 Ways to Fry an Egg and for the shear amount of samples in one track, Kid Koala - Scratchappyland I think there's like over 100 samples over the course of 10 minutes

speaking of kid koala, the bullfrog tune "shine" is one of the most innovative sampling techniques i've ever heard...the main vocals are scratched and sound live at the same time.
- mike_g0
yeah, too bad the rest of that bullfrog album blows...I saw him and DJ P live recreating that scratchappyland record, pretty amazing stuff...

i kinda like how Dj z-trip uses samples...cracks me up. puts some unsual stuff together, like ratt and planet rock...classic!
- aliendn0
yeah mike g, its not a straight player...
greedo, i love that tune that samples some chick and is combined with pharcyde...they go "why its' gotta be like that"
dj muggs from cypress hill's mash up album was bonkers....ghostface with rush, nas with heart, snoop with rolling stones was delicious!...red hot chillys with public enemy too! check it out if you haven't already.

Hey Greedo, do you have that one Z-Trip mix, Live at DJ Scene, it's pretty wicked as well, a little sloppier than "Uneasy Listening", but still pretty dope. He's def one of the most creative DJ's I've ever heard. Too bad he's such an arrogant prick..

someone mentioned dibbs, but i have to say his stuff with warpigs, killing in the name of and integrity are some of my favorites.... especially when you're at a show in cincinnati and half the crowd are courage crew and ex-straight edge kids who still know how to mosh
- mike_g0
Yes MLPROJECT, Dibbs is the king! He's been ripping shit for too long. I liked his earlier mixes and productions better, the jazzier stuff with the blues and hardcore mixed in. In my mind he's doing too much stuff just with the hardcore and classic rock shit, but I guess it makes him more "bookable" and backpacker friendly.

nas - the message samples sting's "shape of my heart" one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard
- MLPROJECT0
yeah, that's true, but coming from cincinnati, you gotta represent that stuff. cincy was one of the biggest edge scenes... huge rivalry between indy, cincy, dayton and louisville. i like it, it takes the bullshit out of hip hop.

cypress hills hits from teh bong sampling dusty springfield's son of a preacher man

The Avalanches
'Frontier Psychiatrist'

the one song on the new Beastie Boys where they sample the beginning riff of 'Sonic Reducer' by the Dead Boys

mike_g:
really, z-trip's a dick? i've seen him a couple of times live and he seemed cool enough...but it's not like i tried to hang with him or anything.
got a war story to tell?
- mike_g0
No Greedo, no war stories, but I saw him in this Rocksteady video like 5 years ago (maybe longer) and he was going on and on about how he was like the best DJ in the world and how he started the whole Turntablism genre. At that point, I don't even think that future primitive CD with him and Radar on it, was out yet. Which was like his first big bout of exposure, so I just thought it was pretty wack. And the turntablism comment blew my mind, considering he isn't a very technical scratch dj, or even that good at scratching. Not that the genre is totally about scratching, but it's a pretty integral component.

Oh and his booking fee is like $7000 USD!!!
