I don't think it's coming.
The chips are still way too hot, only chance is if they go for a specialist mobile chip. Can't see it myself.
But am waiting for financial reasons anyway, will probably upgrade in December if it ain't out by then, hard luck :)

im kinda confused guys..
i was planning to buy a 12 inch pb this summer.. but now im hearing all sorts of thing that apply will introduce its powerbook g5 soon.. shud i wait for it (i kno its not gonna be sooner than november and my university starts in september)...
help is needed...

the new sony 17 is looking good and my fujitsu isnt bad - the powerbook 17 still rules on the style front.

error, get a 15" mate.. you can hardly design on 12"
and don't wait for the g5 pb.. i don't see that comin anytime soon.

3rror... 2 things
1. dont get the 12 to design on unless you plan on using it as a desktop replacement and using a monitor 90% of the time. The resolution is only 1028... its really hard to do anything on them. Get the 15". If you are straped for cash... the Apple Deals section in their store has refrebs that are pretty much new with the same warrentys as new... and you can pick them up for alot cheaper.
2. There will be no Powerbook G5s until next year most likely...
but dont wait anyway.. Powerbooks hold their value very very well. If they do come out next year.. you can put your powerbook up for auction on ebay and still get a pretty penny for it..
Thats one good thing about apple.... you can sell your old one for good money.

The only time I would ever say.. dont buy anything .. is if its like right before a conference and the likly hood of new computers is high.. but other than that.. just buy....
My friend bought a 17in imac for 1499 from apples referb.
half a year later he wanted a powrbook.... he sold the imac on ebay for 1400....

A G5 notebook would have to be liquid cooled, like the dual 2.5ghz desktop.
The 12 is good for the writer/occasional designer, like myself.
The 17, unless you have a damn good reason to have it, is like penis compensation!

Not really man... the thing is so thin and very portable for its size.. and the MAIN reason you get it.. is for the screen size and resolution.. which is briliant.
I use it as my main screen now..
